Exclamation please help tach died

my tach died the other day and it has me beat i can't find the problem. it still lights up with the speedo but doen't move. i checked the coils and looked for any loose or broken wires under the dash. is there a common problem with these?

It could be the ignitor on the trailing plugs has gone out.

Tach wire is the heavily insulated wire on the trailing coil. check for corrostion on the connectors.

all connections seem fine and they are clean. how could i be sure if it's the ignitor?

it is eithier your ignitor or your coil check by pulling off the wires (from the distributor) on trailing to the spark plugs and put one close to the distributor see if a spark archs (do this well the motor is running) if it does then then im lost but it wont Im 99.99% sure and this will mean u need a new ignitor since the coil seldom blow

get the haynes manual and they have a ignitor check... follow it and check it....

might take about 45 minutes to disassemble, test, and assemble.... with all the tools on hand.
