Please Help... SE - white smoke & hard starting

I'm having a problem with my 84' SE. If I leave her sitting for a couple of days... she is very hard to start... takes about 15 minutes to finally run, and when she does... there is alot of white smoke. Well... at least she has a damn good battery. Any ideas on what I need to check or change out? Please help...

Thanks in advance.

Sounds like you have a coolant leak. How does it run once you do get the car started?

Yes... she runs fine. After I get her first started... she has no problem starting after that, but if I leave her alone for a couple of days... it goes back to the hard starting and smoking. The coolant level is fine, and she is not even close to running hot. I'm lost on ideas... I've changed spark plugs and wires... but she still has the same problem after a couple of days. Any ideas????

hard start

You might also check for leaky inj. After the motor has sat the usually length it acts up at, remove the spark plugs, disconnect the plugs on the igniter(we don't want spark), and pull the fuseable links for the inj by the bat. Using PROPER CARE, pull off the fuel inlet line(follow the line from the fuel filter if necessary) to vent the fuel pressure from the line. Put a sheet of clean white paper in front of the plug holes and crank over the engine for a few seconds. Check the paper, any green fluid? coolant. Dirty thin fluid that smells like gas? leaky inj. Well... I did like you advised... yep I have a coolant leak. Now the next question is: Where is the coolant coming from? Is this something possibly simple to repair?? Or do I need to take it to a "Specialist"??? Please advise.

Thanks...
