PLease Help A.S.A.P before i start this

Well I got a new used third member today, And I am about to switch out my old one
This is the problem, I get under the car to listen, I spin my wheels and I here absolutely nothing coming from the third member instead the noist seems to be coming from where my driveshaft meets the tranny, a grinding sound, which I had assumed was my third member, please help before I get this all started.
What is the grinding sound, and how can I completely eliminate my third memberfrom being the problem, if thats the case. HELP
Other than the noise I cant tell if its my third member. she rides fine, leaves to skid marks all the time, if that tells you anything about it's condition

Unbolt the driveshaft from the 3rd member (4 bolts) but don't remove it from the trans. separate it from the 3rd member input flange and support it out of the way.

Spin the back wheels; spin the input flange.

If the noise is gone, it's not your 3rd member.

Yap thanks man, much appreciated, I removed the drive shaft from the third member and the noise at the junction for driveshaft, tranny was gone, and now I can actually here the third member, also there is about alot of wiggle where the driveshaft and the third meber meet.
Well I am gonna sit down eat dinner then get to work..

Explain the wiggle in more detail if you would. Also is the noise coming from the front or the rear of the driveshaft? It could be that one of you u-joints is going out or the output bearing of the tranny is failing. Neither is a good thing. Now that everything is tightened up, wiggle the driveshaft and see how much rotational play you have.
