Please help identify these Nikki parts
We need help from the Nikki Gurus.
While rebuilding a stock and virgin Nikki from a 1982 GSL we found these parts in the parts washer:
They are two small flexible cups made of very fine brass mesh, each about 2 mm diameter and 5 mm long with one end open.
I've rebuilt several Nikki's but don't recall ever seeing these, can someone tell us where they go?
Thanks!

Those are the inlet screens, usually disposed of during the first rebuild - haha.
I'm guessing most people just toss 'em (Sterling didn't use them in his rebuilds). That said: not a bad idea to put an inline filter right before the carb regardless.

Thanks, that makes sense. So they just slip into the open ends of the fuel inlet tube and return line tube on top of the carb?
I hear you on the inline filter before the carb, but putting it under the hood makes me nervous.
I've seen more than one FB go up in flames because of a fuel leak under the hood from a fitting to a filter or pressure regulator.
One was a wide body SE project the guy had been working on for years.
One day he started it up, left for a few minutes and came back to find his project consumed in flames, which was the end of the project.

That's it! I've seen a version of these before in the 84/85 Nikki's, but they are cone shaped.
But this Nikki is from an 82 GSL, an earlier version. Thanks for solving the mystery!
