I think that I also forgot to mention that the car has a RB intake as well as that Edelbrock carb. (Just to give as much info as I possibly can to try and diagnose this problem) Thanks.

(coils and plugs are new) To see if that helps the problem. Could it be any problems with the carb? Remember: No power and backfiring. (Sometimes through the carb)
Yeah you got it right on the position of the notches.

So is the carb just out of the box and into the car? I think those would need some mods to run properly on a rotary application, like what RB does with the holleys.

Thanks guys for all of your input. I unfotunatley will inform you all that the front housing has 0 compression and the back has good compression. I wish I would have spent the $20 on the comp tester before I spent the $280 on the carb. Oh well live and learn. If anyone has or knows of anyone that has a motor that they are trying to get rid of let me know. The closer to South Alabama the better. Again thanks for your time.

don't give up yet

No compression may be caused by carbon deposits. Search for threads on how to remove carbon. It may just need the carbon removed.
