Pinging?
Went and talked to the local Mazda dealership for tuning. The man i talked to is thier rotary specialist. Question, when reving the car there is a noise coming sounding like a belt slipping. it is a hi pitched niose, he said it is the engine "pinging" or "knocking" the rotor rubbing against the chamber walls, and he then said to put HIGHER octane to stop it. I guess the question is what is this Pinging what can i do and i have always been told NOT to put high octane in it and he says to put it to solve this problem. thanks

Describe the sound better, please. Sqealing noise is not ping. Pinging is like rocks rattling in a can. IMO rotaries don't ping if all is OK; only when timing is off. The mechanic should have re-timed the engine.

well, could someone explain to me what pinging and knocking would sound like on a rotary? will it be a chirp or be a constan sound. he also said to get bigger coils, which to me would be upgrading to direct fire because i found no just bigger coils for the 12a, am i wrong or is direct fire the next step

Pinging occurs only under heavy loads, not while decelerating. If a belt is making the noise, usually it will only be when you hit high rpms (again, not while decelerating). Could the noise be described as a "honking" sound? Could be the butterfly valve thingy.
Oh, and don't EVER take your car to that mechanic again. And tell him that people all around the world think he's a stupid ***....

Spray a little WD40 on your belts, one at a time, until you find the one that is squeaking. The WD40 won't hurt the belts but will silence them (in fact, a silently slipping belt will last longer than a noisy one).
It's probably the innermost belt which is for the alternator. If you have to replace it (might as well, they're cheap and they DO break eventually), you have to loosen the other belt tensioners, then slip the new alt belt over the fan blades then work it past the other belts one at a time, then re-tension all belts.
That mechanic is weird.
