Show me what you all have done? Theres not alot of space in to work with, how creative have you all gotten?
Also assuming I just wanted to replace the factory speakers with the best sounding aftermarket. (same size) What size would I be looking at?

Thats my sub and amp enclosure. Note it used to have back seats (no midget mates). Also have 6x9's in boxes at the back below where the hatch glass comes down (where the jack was)
also have some 4' by my feet and the passengers feet.
All kenwood, including mp3 deck, all good

Here is where I placed my sub and 6x9's in the car when it still had the stereo in it. When the car is done, there will be no stereo. The front speakers are just 5.25" rounds in the stock location. Here is a pic of the sub and 6x9's.

carefull with the rears, some 6.5"s dont fit. I got some Rockfords all around, and had to enlarge the holes in the rear by just under an inch. I would stick with 5 1/4s in the rear, just to be safe.

here' my cheapo $30 blaupunkets. They're pretty good, just for listening to music, not blowing your car apart with bass. I don't have anything in the back, and stock headunit. It's good enough for now until my car's a little faster

MattG where'd you get that little change holder box thingy under your ciggarette lighter? I've been looking everyone for somthing to fill mine.
I attached a couple of pics of mine. Pioneer head unit. Two 8in pioneer subs in a custom box molded to fit the back of the hatch, just short enough to clear everything. I had some left over carpet so I decided to cut out a nice square and keep it as a cover for the entire encouslure when I'm parked in a public area so the car apears to look stock.

It depends. I ran all new wire to my speakers. I hid it all under the carpets and ran it to the back. It looks good and was alot better then that small wire they had running to the stock speakers. I had a harness kit and used two pieces out of it, but I felt that it was worth it to get one. It would be that hard, just look on the forum and read the instructions!

The old system had 2 12" Apline Z's. My cardomain page goes through the step by step on building the entire system.

anyone here replaced the head unit while keeping the Graphic EQ and the joystick fader?
and is there anyone interested? i did this a while back and it sounds quite nice, and the EQ is much more versitile than the retarded presets most popular decks come with nowadays

So Nothing fancy dancy, just a Sony CDX-M7815X for the unit. Infinty Reference 4012i's in front and back, with and adjustable tweeter so I can point the sound the way I want it to go!

Do the speakers interfer with your access to the hood release?
thanks

Custom wiring MUST be run for the speakers as there aren't any wires from the radio area for the speakers. I wouldn't call this an easy install for anyone that hasn't done it before.
