Pele- rims have 2 bolt patterns 4x100 and 4x114.3 so they fit both first gens.

Sickboy- the front is the mazda (optional) skirt, Racing Beat and Mazdatrix sell it. And the rear bumper has the lower half of a Mustang GT moulded on. It took a day to do. REALLY easy. It still has to be sent to a body shop to properly paint it, cause I just sprayed it myself. Mustangs are 3inches wider, so that has to be shortened and the licence plate spot has to be cut out, and if you want to show your muffler cut the hole for the tips. Personally I think it would have looked better if I just had a regular muffler with the exhaust pointing down so that way it would look cleaner. Just like the rear end of a stang. Next step an alunimum wing like the MAZDASPEED A-SPEC 3rd gen.
Question to you guys..... Should I have the Rims painted gold when I get the spoiler, just like the MAZDASPEED A-SPEC 3rd gen?

eek, and the nose is getting a mazdatrix airdam, new passanger fender, and new hood. (sounds like ALOT of work, but the car had 78k on the clock, inside was PERFECT, mechanically was perfect, I have logs of almost every oil change, ect, there's no rust anywhere on the car (save the damaged bits) and the frame is perfectly straight. so I'm calling it a "restoration")
So it seems like a good idea to just paint the whole thing while they're at it, it'll save them from blending and stuff.
Of course all that work is taking away money from my RX-8 downpayment

speckamp- your idea sounds good, you should get started during winter.... come spring you'll have a new look on your ride. The car sounds to be perfect for this restoration, are you keeping it silver? Actually thinking about it you probably should because of the engine bay and door jams and such. Too bad about all the damage on the rear to an otherwise perfect car, the bright side is your tail light didn't break. A body shop can fix that no problem!! And seems like everyone on here is saving up for the RX8.

Jimmy - yeah, the big issue right now is money. Have the airdams (front and rear, thanks to BadAssRX-7), and I've got most of the front end sheet metal that I could get myself easily (still looking into fiberglass hood tho) so hopefully it'll be a relativly quick operation getting the work done and painted. And the bra is already off the car and in the woods somewhere I didn't like it at all, it came with the car. Tho, scrubbing bugs off the nose is kinda a pain in the ***. And yeah, I'm keeping it silver, I don't want to pay the big bucks to have the car painted a different color the right way. And I don't want it painted a different color the wrong way. (tho a brilliant black 1st gen would look amazingly cool, esp. next to a starfire yellow mica RX-8 )
Happily, tho, the interior is mint, and thanks to my "minor" stereo mods, it's nice and loud.
So what's left on my list...

He reccomended the W10's, and I've heard alot of good things from other owners of them too. So I've decided on those.
I can't wait for the new Kumho auto-x tires to come out, I'll put those on the stocker rims for competition.

rreader- the mustang gt bumper was easy to do. First cut the bumper lenghtwise just under that trimline that runs all around the car. Do that to the side pieces of the bumper too. (remember the mustang bumper is 3 pieces) Attach the little side pieces on first. See what hight you want the bumper from the ground. I matched it too the side of the car. Anyways after you've cut off the top section of the actual bumber I cut it in half, approximatly 3 inches were removed from the lenght of the bumper. The letters at the bottom read "muang gt". The bumper was mounted, and I put a re-enforement attached on the back. Removed it again and proceeded to fill the lettering and the union of the bumper at the center. Once it all dried I attached it again to the car and marked off were the licence plate sits. removed it and cut the square hole. Cut the hole for the exhaust pipes, and painted the bumper and attached it with sheet metal screws (just like the front skirt is attached). I feel that it brought a unique look to the car. And the car looks more agressive. Ever since I bought the car I always disliked the design of the rear of the car. And to buy the actual skirt, ship it to canada, taxes, exchange rates, delivery from cali, etc. It would be $5-600 dollars. I'd rather spend that on actual performance parts for my car. I'm not a pro body man but with some common tools and fiberglass, anybody can do this. Keep in mind that GT bumpers are actually rare, I paid $200 from a mustang shop nearby cause no scrap yard have 5liter mustangs. Only the 4bangers. all in all it was worth it big time.

Thanks for the info on the 'stang bumper. Yeah five hundred plus dollars is kinda hefty. There needs to be more Canadian RX-7 shops (or any). This was a creative idea I going to look into it. Great description too.
