Parts Swap Question

I know there are many threads about what items will fit on what years, this is one of those parts so small and unoticble ive never seen it covered.

On the rear brakes on my 84 GSL-SE there is a pin that the caliper slides on. That pin is threaded into the Caliper mount and does not have any sort of nut head on it. I was wondering if an earlier year car with front disk brakes would work. Could i just take that pin and put it into mine, or will it not fit? antone know

How so, if I am in question of parts swapping I just pull up the factory part charts and cross reference the part numbers.

2nd, there was a book on the 1st gen Rx-7 written by Mr. Ball that talks about some parts interchangability of the different years.

3rd, why don't you just post for the exact part you need, can't be too much $$.

Dude just take out it out of your own front brakes and check it out... If you've tried that then I doubt the pin from the front brakes of any other year will work, but I'm not positive of that.

Jim is it the upper pin in the picture?

Rear caliper Guide Pin # FA-66-26-695 is a different part number than the front.

Call mazda or email Mazdaformance and see what a new 1 will cost you.

Well up here in Calgary the Mazda dealerships are refusing to sell parts for the 1st gens now. Definately sucks - I know how you feel.

I recently called mazda and the parts guy in IA said that their books stop at 86. Kinda shitty if you ask me.
