Pam's sister?
On Wednesday morning I'm flying to the coast to have a look at the car below. If everything checks out I'll be driving her back across three provinces as my new car. This time I'll be doing it the wimpy way, stopping off twice instead of driving all the way through in one go.
I've not yet settled with my insurance co. They say the car lists for $4,500 retail, and that's what they're gonna give me, nevermind any added performance parts or exceptional condition. However, they are shipping the wreck back to Saskatchewan at their expense to keep it secure (so bubba tow-truck driver isn't tempted to strip parts off it) while their decision is being arbitrated - and being arbitrated it is! They knew I'd fight for more $$$ so the announcing of a settlement was a formality - they'd already filed the paperwork for me to go one level up the chain and talk to a manager about it.
Anywho, without further babble, here's my (potential) New Love. I plan to buy back Pam and put her cloth seats in this coar's leather interior, but otherwise she looks pretty good on her own:

$2,500 canuck bucks
220k on the odo
slight rust above the left rear wheel arch, but cismetic. The guy sent me a closeup shot of it. He knows I'm gonna drive her a few thousand klicks home.
I emailed him about my interest two weeks ago, explaining about Pam and showing him my website. I emailed him last week only to discover that once he saw what an enthusiast I am he pulled his newspaper ad and has been holding the car for me since (with no deposit!) He wants his baby to find a good home

Nice Car
Sorry to hear about the accident, great to see you're OK.
Glad you found a new FB--hope all goes well.
Nice choice--looks just like the one I have .
Check out my car, would have posted the pic but came out way to big--and I hate it when everyones post ends up like 100 ft long.

So Manntis,
Are you thinking of keeping it stock again? Or are you going to go the performance mods route?
The loss of Pam is really too bad... but it would definitely be nice to see you in an -SE again. I hope you get an awesome settlement from the insurance company. I mean even for the price that the car's currently going for, and the price that the insurance company "toyingly" gave you, you'd still have a bit left over for whatever you want to do with the car.
I've always wanted to buy a good condition Rx, strip it ALL the way down to the bare frame, and build it back up perfectly... clean and repaint the frame, clean and/or replace every part... rebuild the engine with a MILD street port...
Who knows, maybe if you're crazy enough, and you get an awesome settlement, maybe you *can* do that, build her up to be in as good condition as Pam was.
To hoping Manntis finds the car of his dreams.. again! Cheers!

At least one if not all the rims are bent.
I may be able to salvage the RB exhaust and change only the gaskets
The interior, with windows smashed, has been rained on for the past two weeks in an area where moss, lichen, and mold grow rapidly. I plan to disassemble and dry out the seats as best as possible to prevent that musty, rotting smell of wet interior.
The swaybar is most likely bent, as the left front wheel is twisted under the car while still attached to the steering hub.
whine whine whine... but I miss that car

$4500 is a crazy number....what happened with the $19,000 appraisal? I thought the insurance you had was based on that amount? For what it's worth, a totaled 1980 GS with 28,000 mile engine and perfect body costs $4400 to Clark Ins. Co., a third party commercial insurer to GMAC. That's what I got after months of fighting until they saw we were going to small claims for real and paid up...
I believe I still have all the paperwork, but I'll have to dig it up at home...

The sway bar may have made it though, it sounds like the wheel and hub absorbed the damage.
Where do you go to get a $19,000 appraisal on an Rx-7?

Manntis' above total:
11,250 Canadian Smackers + 2500 for the car itself
$13,750
Fight as hard as you can for insurance money.. and prey tell why the hell was the RB exhaust (which is supposed to be bolt-on with gaskets) a 600$ install?!?
At the very least, you can get pam out of salvage and get the new car to where you live with the 4500 BS offering.
That leaves you to find 11,250 from the insurance company or yourself..... We'll help you any way we can I'm sure.
Just don't get discouraged... You'll do it, I'm sure of it.

Manntis, I like the black one, both of them. You could call it "Pamela" since in swahili 'ela' means following all that is beautiful. Tell me which one you don't buy and I'll go look at it. And sell me any extra leather seats you have.

Sweet man, I hope its everything you expected and more. Im glad that youre getting back into the saddle so to speak. Last night I just washed and detailed my car, and let me tell you, it sure makes me forget how much I was upset over needing new wheel bearings, or the slight leak on the brake caliper, or any other minor "glitches" she has. I couldnt imagine loosing my baby. Im happy that you have the strength to carry on so to speak .

Nice looking car Maantis. Hope it works out for you.
Thouhgt I would show you a pic of Pam's cousin here in Quebec. I bought it August 2002 for $3200 for a nice lady who drove it for the past 13 years.
I love the black RX-7!
