Painting Opinion
I am planning on repainting my car this year, and i had an idea, but i jsut cant picture it. I am painting my car a nice glossy red and was thinking it might look cool to do the mirrors and window trims that color also. I just cant picture it so i dunno if it would look good. What do you tihnk.

Red mirrors, black trim...
The last batch of series 3 FB's (made in 85) had colour matched mirrors. There's not many of them, and I've only ever seen a few. It's one pf the things I'd really like to get done when my car gets re-painted...
I think keepting the trim black would add some nice contrast tho...

Definitley color match the mirrors but if you paint the trim around the window red too, it will make it look like you took it to Macco and they forgot to mask! leave um black forget about the bling bling chrome look. Or do what i did and leave it peeling fading black and chrome! lol

Sorry, color matching just about anything looks cheap, IMO. It doesn't update the car or improve anything. The mirrors should stay black.
On this car, chrome trim just doesn't work. I've seen chromed (actually stripped and polished) trim and it looked like the paint failed and the owner couldn't afford to refinish them. The simple, original contrast of black on a great paint job is the best look.
I do have one exception... The front and rear MAZDA nameplates should be chrome, not the original plastic black. They look much better matching the GS, GSL, or SE badge on the rear and the RX-7 badges on the sides, which are all chromed. I bought Miata namplates, which are also asthetically better due to their size, to replace them.
Whatever you do, at least you're taking the time to preserve the car and having fun doing it, which is great.
What red are you using? I really like the Dodge Viper red. It's less orange than the original RX-7 red.
Have fun! Mike

Color matched mirrors is an obvious yes. Black looks the absolute best in my opinion, but silver or tornado silver looks good too. I don't know about chrome though.
