Ahhh. you can buy auto paint on Ebay!!
I would get it from a local auto paint supplier. That way you can see the actual color you are buying, instead of what there camera makes it look liake, then your monitor makes it look like.
Also prep work is a lot of work, do you want to risk all those hours of sanding and cleaning on some $35 paint? I just painted my car with base coat/clear coat. The paint was DBU and the clear was the best they had (car is metalic silver so I wanted a good clear) Total paint and thinner (enough for 1.5 gallons) Clear and activator (1.25 gallons) was $280.

I have 3 FBs in the driveway right now, and the red one was FREE! So I'm using it as a gienea pig for recovering the bodywork skills I haven't used in 40 years. So I'm experiementing with Bondo, etc., (can't seem to find the GreenStuff and RedStuff We used to use), and I'm willing to experiment with paint too. So maybe I'll try the red from that outfit on ebay. I figure to make a single wall partial spraybooth (2x4s and 6mil poly) and paint in 4 sections: rear half, passenger door and fender, driver door and fender, and hood.

Trouble is, I don't know what to spray with. I was thinking of getting one of those LPHV units for about $150 and try it out. Anyone used one?

With Acrylic Enamel you also need to buy the correct reducer and correct hardner, otherwise it wont ever cure.

$35 for a gallon of paint? You'll get what you pay for... if you want it to look decent and last more than a few months get yourself some good paint like PPG or DuPont. I'm partial to PPG, but I'm sure other people have other opinions.

Also grab yourself a good cleaner. At PPG stores they carry something called Acryli-Clean. Wipe the car down with this stuff, and you'll have very few problems with blemishes. Make sure to mask or cover anything you don't want paint on. Even HVLP guns will blow paint all over the place. A lot of the stuff in my garage now has a blue cast from painting three of my FB's with varying shades of blue.
