Paint vs Compound/Simonize
My present 1984 gsl-se is tan and the paint is in pretty good condition but dull with some scratches. Would like to get it as nice looking as possible. Would you guys compound/simonize or simply repaint? The rest of the vehicle is in excellant condition.

From my experience with detailing cars ive learned that if you get a nice orbital buffer and the meguirs 3 step process and do the process a couple times that it will bring the dullest paint back to a nice reflective luster. If the paint is really bad you can get a high speed buffer however these require special hands to use because you can burn the paint. My 84 rx7 i used to have i bought with absolutely no shine at all and i did the mequires 3 step 3 times on it with a normal orbital buffer i got at walmart and i had folks asking where i got it repainted.... it was the original paint. Fine scratches can disapear by doing this but if its to the metal then you will either have to touch up the scratchs and nicks or just live with them. Im assuming since its tan that finding touch up paint would be pretty much impossible though. Ive never really used simonize products before and ive never really heard any good things from them. The 2 brands id stick to are mequires or mothers. Turtle wax's new stuff thats out now is good too. If you look in my sig i do the meguires 3 step process about once every 2 months on my black rx7 and its like glass.
