yeeeehaaaaaaaa !

it fired up first time.

before i go on, first some eye candy

pic of intake flange with leather gasket, awaiting fitment of intake

and here is a pic of my two electric fans

anyways...connected everything up and she fired up first time.
And yes, as you guys noticed, the intake is tall. the carb is big too, and that k&n is a few inches as well. So I cut a hole in the bonnet ! its spring here now, so not going to be much rain for a while. it does stand indoors as well. also, will be fitting some sort of hood scoop over it. Took a for a run down the highway. boy does she purr. builder said not to go over 5k for first 1000 km. very difficult. this baby just wants to GO ! oh, i forgot to add i fitted the mazdatrix short shifter as well. No rattle. I think i got some of my wires mixed up so i got temp gauge going but not oil pressure. also, the fans kicked in at about 85 while idling in the garage. on the road the temp was fine. will post a link to the vid of the start up tomorrow

thanks guys. now just to sort out some wiring and install a 11k tach !

yes, got all the dash lights on, so its obviously the alternator not charging. got to check the wires, or get the alt sorted. just wanted to get it started and take it for a drive though :-)

awesome build man, can't wait to hear it on the road.

I want to build up an engine like that some time this year, so far money isn't allowing it though.

hi

transmission = stock 13b turbo box
clutch = copper button type, which is surprisingly quite soft, just engages rapidly
oh, and i fitted the mazdatrix short shifter to the gearbox

oiling system has been upgraded. majorly. i dont know specs yet, cant give you psi oil pressure cos my wiring is messed, sorting it this weekend.
but my builder has modified every bit of the oil system, including cutting a bigger groove in the bearings to take more oil, to the actual oil pump.

I've always wondered why nobody's used renesis endplates with P-port housings. Couldn't you just move monster volumes of air that way, once you fab your manifolds?

Great build, man.

There is far more to making power that just pure airflow. Port timing has a humongous affect. Everyone complains that the Renesis exhaust ports are restrictive yet a 13B needs to be streetported just to match it's power. This is because the exhaust ports on a 13B are open for far too long in relation to the intake. The Renesis has a far more optimal intake and exhaust timing relationship and more power is made. If you had more intake and/or exhaust ports you'd have really weird timing but more importantly you'll lose exhaust velocity and scavenging not to mention mess up any intake tuning and would probably end up making less power than you started with.
