Ordered my new engine - what do you think?
Engine: 1994 FD 13B Turbo.
Dowelling: $1000
Hybrid T04-S Turbo: $3000
Custom thick-walled stainless exhaust manifold: $700
2x new rotor housings: $1000
Balancing: $450
3mm Apex conversion: $300
Labour to build engine: $3500 (includes all new seals)
Turbotronics 48mm external wastegate: $880
Clutch: $900
10 pound steel flywheel: $500
These prices are in NZ dollars, so the entire thing works out about US$12,000. I've been assured of 400Hp at the flywheel at 15psi, and about 450Hp at 18-20psi.
It'll look something like this when I get it back in 6-8 weeks:

Thanks guys, I'll be making a website which will detail the entire build. A lot of it is due to this very site, I might even have to put a www.rx7club.com sticker in the window!

Proof positive that horsepower is addictive,!!!!!!!
You start out getting a kick out of the extra few horsepower from a simple mod and before you know it your dropping ten grand just to get the last little bit more out of it.
Before you know it youve got 15 cars worth of horsepower and an engine that is good for a few months rather than a few years.
Having said that I cant really say that I wouldnt spend the money the same way he did If i could afford it!!!!!!!!!!

I wouldn't be spending $12,000 on a rotary engine...not to offend anyone because I'm a strong believer in them but for less that $12,000 I could have a small block 440 that produces 600HP...unturboed or supercharged...believe me its possible...I have a 67 firebird with a small block 440 that produces 650HP at the 48" of rear rubber...can spin those tires in 4 gears...its just not econimical to spend that much on a rotary to get power when their are cheaper ways...but if I had $12,000 lying around I might do the same though...lol...kicking engine by the way!

Ok. I have $12k and it produces 664HP and 712 torque. But ohnestly I'm starting to like these little 7's better than the vettes, and I love what hes doing. Everybody and there brother has a BBC. I'm stoked for you, I can't wait to see pics.

Believe me, I'm not a rich man. I've saved forever and had to buy a house to get leverage on a mortgage to buy this engine and finish my project. I'm paying it off at 7.75% interest
When you want something this bad (I've been a rotary nut since I was 13, I'm 26 now) you just have to spend the money. There's something inside you that just won't quit until you see your dream achieved. This is the last and greatest spendup I get to do before I'm hitched and wifey puts the clamps down on my bank account, and the future children absorb whatever's left.
Better to burn out than fade away, right guys?

I'm not talking bolt on's I built this engine from the ground up and there isn't one piece of shiny flashy cheap *** chromed anything on this engine...this engine uses so much vacuum to suck gas from the tank that you have to hold the fuel on alittle when applying the brakes...but at 3 1/2 miles to the gallon it doesn't get driven that much...anyone can buy a crate big block with all the flashy stuff on it...but it takes skill to build it all yourself...besides motor was built before jegs even existed!!...and its a small block...lol...and I didn't say I didn't like the engine I was saying what fun is it to spend $12000 to have someone else to build the engine...I'd would rather spend $12000 and built the engine myself!!

This was by no means a crate motor.
