Options...?

Ok well this winter hopefully unless something goes totally wrong im planning on fixing up my fb (84 se). The engine needs a rebuild, it runs really strong but its at 215k miles lol. No problems, normal oil usage, normal vacuum, good power, but it sounds like it has sticking side seals when you first start it. What are my engine options... should I have it sent off for a rebuild? or can I do it at home with just new seals etc. I want to put in a lightened fly wheel and it defiently needs a new clutch. If I tear it down im going to port the intake runners and tb. I kinda want to keep the efi because im faced with the possibility of emissions testing within the next year... what do you guyz think I should do, I want it to have more power then it does now and im not sure whats effective on these 13 6 ports... thx in advance

It's certainly an option to rebuild the engine yourself. You should go to www.rotaryaviation.com they're having a special of apex seals, a full set for a 13B only $140 US.

If you're looking to make more power, your first upgrade should be exhaust. You can get a header system with a catalytic converter from www.mazdatrix.com that will free up power and still keep you emissions legal, so long as there is no visual inspection.
