exactly my config...now all you need are new bushings and new inner and outer tie rod with new adjuster nuts to tighten up the steering and your car will feel NEW!

i'm thinking about getting the rb front sway bar...(maybe a poll thread on that )

it'll feel way stiff at first but it will settle in...then you'll love how the car feels

have fun!

hey bizarro, how much did your springs settle once they were in? i am not too happy about the fact that i put in lowering springs and it hardly lowered the car at all. yes i know i need bushings and all but i have absolutely no $ and i have to deal with CA smog.

on my car the original springs were sagging more than 1"...so when the springs were installed i didn't any difference...

i checked out your picture and my car is actually lower than that now...i'd say it took a few weeks for them to settle in...

can you see the difference? then again...it might just be the rims

ps - nice prom date!

I've used four different spring setups:

1) Stock

2) Stock with some coils cutoff (was a long time ago, and I can't remember how much I cut off the front and rear)

3) Suspension Techniques

4) Eibach Pro Kit

In order of preference, I'd go with Cut Stock Coils & Eibach Pro Kit (tied), Stock Coils, then Suspension Techniques. The stock coils were probably the best dynamically, but the car definitely looked better with the cut coils or the Eibachs. The STs ranked last because the soft rear spring rates caused my rear end to bottom out too often, even though I cut down my bump stops to compensate.

i'm on old school neuspeed springs (yellow) which aren't produced anymore.. feels like RB springs though and that's w/ 2 coils cut all around.. a lil soft for my taste

might go w/ eibach's later down the road though

So does everyone think the Racing Beat is probably better for improving the stock setup, but not making it so stiff that it can't be my daily driver anymore?

I have Subaru GL 4x4 Wagon rear springs (200lb-in 12.5"x3") in the front on my car, with the OEM struts using ATF as the damping medium. In the rear I have stock springs with 1.5" load leveller type spacers above the stock rubber insulator.

Handles like an absolute dream - finally, a 1st-gen that can be *driven*! You can feel the weight getting transferred around as you roll onto the brakes, dial in some steering angle, roll into the throttle. No floatyness, no bouncing, no hitting the bump stops. Front roll center is much improved, as is the rear roll couple.

I was expecting it to plow like a pig, what with not only a raised roll center and somewhat increased (more positive) front camber, but also the nearly doubled front spring rate. But... it doesn't! Why? Because it stays the hell off of the bump stops! When you're on the bump stop your effective spring rate is infinite. Bad bad bad. Plus things get "scary" when the road is less than glass-smooth.
