So you don't think it's necessary to take both out? I would rather not take both of them out, I don't have a hoist, I'm just using my rafters, a couple 2x4's and a come along. I'm sure the rafters can hold the motor but I don't want to stress them anymore than i need too.

Motor is out, I hope to have it apart tonight. I really hope my lack of experience didn't turn it into a anchor. The housings and plates were in great condition the first time around.

It took me over a hour to get the seals out, this was with the rotor on a table. I am glad I took the motor back out. The seals look good, no cracks or chips. I will get a caliper to get a actual dimension. I don't want to have to do this again and maybe this is a stupid question but should I take the side seals out as well? They have no movement either.
