One Humbled Cowboy
So I'm driving down the street and a Cavalier pulls out virtually in front of me, off to the left, to 'merge' with traffic. Had I not been paying attention I would have been through his passenger door to say howdy before either of us knew what happened. As it was I swerved into the right lane and went around him.
We end up side by side at the stoplight with 2 vehicles in front of each of us. He's got Alberta plates (kinda the Canadian version of Montana, with cowboys & roughnecks intermixed) and is such a little guy he manages to wear a cowboy hat INSIDE his late-model silver Cavalier.
Here's the thing: he's got the ram-air hood and a propensity for revving his engine at Honda levels.
The light changes and we drive. Not a race yet as there's people in front of us. My lane goes a bit faster and he does a teenage lane-change (jerk the wheel, no shoulder checking, etc.)
A few blocks later we both make a right onto a major (4 lanes each way) street and end up side by side at a stoplight. I'm never one for opportunity racing, I just drive as I drive. Light changes and I drive. He, however, sits still for a sec with tires squealing in place. He finally finds traction and comes up on me - I shift, pull away, he shifts, comes up, I shift etc. etc.
he never got closer than 1 carlength behind me since our 'race' (which I didn't realize WAS a race until my companion started giving me a blow-by-blow commentary as she watched him over her shoulder)
Man. A 17 year old car (total spent: $12,500) with a passenger blowing away a 2000 - 2002 car (lists for about $19-22,000+) with some apparent mods, without even trying.
I luv my ReX

Pffft.... Cavalier. Those guys are nothing more than a waste of gas for hardcore rotary rockets like ours. Did you read my story about my early morning race with an Audi TT?
I always love the look on someone's face when I dust their expensive new car with my 20 year, 1.1 liter Mazda.

There's a few TTs here but no one drives them hard due to the potholes, etc.
Still, all due respect to your kill!
I just think it was funny as this kid was trying sooo hard to race me and I had to be told he was doing so

still my favorite is a completely stock mid 80's 5.0 mustang. They can rev to hearts content then when i puch my pedal to 5k and let off and shoot flammes they yell are you stupid running nos on a pos. Right now i have no nos just a good port and some nice free flowing exhuats and my car has one problem an overgrown appetite for middle aged americans cars that they use to over compensate for other areas.

Kill all cavaliers!!! CAvaliers are crap, just like Luminas, Grand Prix's Grand Am's and anything else that shares that same shitty engine, the 3.1.
I hate those! The sound, the power (everything down low ) Not too mention everyone says its a good engine but i have not met one with some sort of over-heating problem...and they are such a bastard to fix, having to remove the engine every time you have to do a spark plug romoval!

I think it's funny GM trying to capitalize on the mod & ricer crowds with this type of car.
Hondas became Mod Rods because of the easy to swap parts and built-in intelligent engineering, something General "slap another badge on it & people will think it's a whole new car" Motors has never been particularely good at.
Can you believe they slid from a 46% market share to 22%? And that was just the 80s.

Now its the whole thing with bases, the new base that every GM car with have fromSaab to Opel to VAuxhall to frikkin Holden. And not to mention all the same Ecotech engine...except for the Holdens and Saab (the turbo!) for the Holdens will have a tuned V8 with like 400hp. It's smart, but just the way they all share engines is ****!

Luminas SS's are pretty bad *** in the middle east, at least for piston powered cars, but its a whole different car, no six speed manual tranny in the luminas here, also, no v8, with more hp (or close to) than a maro SS.

check the caprice too. same drivetrain. the last year i lived in saudi arabia these cars came out, they are sleepers. the company (Aramco) had the caprice ss's for company cars. they used em for taxis too.

these freaks just don't get it ... even if you build one of those American-wannabes (Cavalier, Neon, Focus ... whatever) that can hang with the likes of a slightly modded Rx-7 ... it's gonna break! so what's the point?
just know you're role and give us props like you're s'posed ta' ...
good kill Manntis ... even if you didn't even have to try

hahaha
Nope. My rear windows have a tint with a one-way effect. I can see out, but you have to practically press your face against the glass from the outside to see in.
