OMP questions
So, I just swapped engines from an 82 to an 83 and I don't know how to connect the metal rod that drives the omp to the omp area. Would it just be easier to delete the omp? If so I know that there is a block off plate but what about that metal rod? What do I do with that in the event of an OMP delete?
Thanks

PLEASE don't delete your Oil Metering Pump because you can't figure out how to run the linkage... It only goes one way, man.
Mazda designed the OMP to provide a variable amount of lubrication to the intake path exactly where it's needed, at considerable engineering and manufacturing expense, so I tend to think they knew what they were doing. The stock OMP works great at what it does, is nearly seamless to the driver, and avoids having to carry around and measure oils into your tank of gas every time you fill up.
Lets figure out what you're looking at, and then get it where it needs to be. Throwing in the towel at this point isn't going to make your life any easier with driving this car, believe me.

I've owned 5 FBs and in all of them I deleted the OMP. I understand the function of it but I never liked the idea of pumping old burned up oil back in the chambers...... And yes....I've changed the oil every 3000 miles but still....it's old oil....
