My inlaws also drive a LaSabre and it can be downright scarey to ride with them! I usually volunteer to be the designated driver, driving their car, to avoid increased odds of danger!

If you see a Buick on the road ahead of you, make it a rule to avoid it, and anticipate erratic driving habits from the driver of the Buick! Just accept the fact.
yeah, Buiks suck ***. My mother drives one, and I am affraid to ride with her/drive it/follow her. And my dad is looking at another Buik for her

Now, if only he would take one more Buik off the road and bring another RX-7 back onto the road.

my brother's first car got totaled by a buick, but of course it's because he was going about 45 in a 25 twisty, in the rain, and wasn't paying an entire lot of attention

lucky it was just a dumb mercury something, not a good rx

I will say something about old people. In most cases ( not all) thier reaction time it way too slow, their ability to admit they need to be off the road, doesnt exist. I am of the feeling that not only should people after age 65 be made to take the road test but some kind of reaction speed test as well. Most (not all) drive the biggest cars they can get their crusty old hands around and have an F*&% you hurray for me attatude or they would have bought a smaller cars instead. I have a right to feel this way as I have only been in 4 wrecks in my life ( im 36 ) and not one has been my fault and 3 of them were ppl over 65 in big *** boats one if which took me 4 months to recover from when getting curb sided by an old lady that was in the forward lane and desided to turn accross me in the truning lane to go right. Not even looking to see that I was there on a motorcycle. Again not saying that all old people cant drive, Just that at some point you have a deminished ability to drive and there should be testing for this.

I think thats a good idea, the reaction test. Not only for people over 65, maybe just people in general. I see lots of terrible drivers that are all ages. But the majority are 65 + that do well under the posted limit, on a friday afternoon rushour, on 2 lane highway... its rediculous, and dangerous. I passed someone because he was going under the limit, last week, and he started shaking his fist out of the window and yelling, out of his big pick-up truck ... I could rant about traffic for hours it seems.....

all man thats not the just of it all. I think all teenagers need to go to a defensive driving/racing school course. I swear they think they know everything. Most of them are blonde headed morons. It can go both way.

I think they should start teaching you to drive at thirteen, when I started learning. That way, 18 year olds can't bitch about insurance

I know I sure do

Ok, here's an update on the situation peeps... I -finnaly- get a hold of his Insurance Company. Appearently he hadn't even reported the Accident yet. Big suprise there, his car didn't have any damage.

And today they call back for a Recorded Statement. He's now saying that he never started to drive forward, that he was stopped "The whole time." What a load of crap eh?

I'm not too happy about this, looks like he's going to try and dodge out of paying for my car now! But he recieved the Citation for the Accident, so the Crash Report has to be going in my favor then. But still, this does not look good, only thing that would save me is that Crash Report, but I haven't seen any Crash Report yet, and I keep checking the Highway Patrol Website.

All I can say is... Never count the chickens untill they're hatched... This is going to be a pain now... =P

Driveing over 5000 miles in four weeks on the major highways, back roads and mountain roads, The thing that I noticed most was , the car passing me at any speed over the posted limit, was diven by young, short( have to look through the steering wheel) females. Most of them were driveing one handed and yakkking on a cell phone. Iwas driveing one of the hated ig cars, a chev Venture. My wife wont ride in the RX because it rides like being dragged down the road on a shovel. some people !

Just in case some of you are wondering what the status on all this crud is...

The insurance company have decided that he would be at fault, and now I'm just trying to fight more money out of them for my car.

I still plan on keeping her though! At least untill I find another RX-7 85-84 year for cheap. She's still drivable, the door just has an opening near the top, and the Windshield is cracked. But she still drives as nice and smooth as the day i got her.

If it makes any difference, bitch at the insurance company that the car either (a) has sentimental value, or (b) is valued above blue book. Quote them some 84-85 RX-7 prices from autotrader. Did this on two wrecked cars (neither my fault), and it helped both times.

As for old people, definitely goes both ways. My first car was wrecked when an old man in a Caprice t-boned me. Evidently he didn't see me... But on the other hand, my grandpa lived to be 90, and he drove up until he was 88. He lived in Greece, and if anyone knows how they drive there, you'll understand why I was always impressed he could maneuver a car at well over 100mph. Pretty good for an 88 year old doctor with cancer.

When it comes down to insurance companies paying out $ for your busted up car.....

Many insurance companies, especially the cheapo ones, (Mercury comes to mind) will low ball you to the end. Only when you have your lawyer write up a letter and send it to them will they even think of reconsidering their offer.

Intranal Quote from an insurance company "If we gave fair market value on every claim we wouldn't make any money".

I don't really think age has anything to do with the way people drive. I think that some people just don't need to be on the road PERIOD regardless of age. You know the kind, the ones who switch lanes without looking, can't keep the car in the lane, the ones who you are scared to ride in the car with, etc. I think they just go on for years and then BAMMM!!! cut into your lane without looking with a huge boat.

Aw man, sorry about your loss. Buick's suck... I remember when I was being driven to elementary school, the same 60-something asian lady would cut us off at least 3 times a week. Would cut into a lane, no signal, no looking and even gestured at us for being wrong... whatever. I guess it was just dumb luck. Even my uncle's parents were driving around in their Buick well past the day that they were theoretically incapable of driving.

Now, for the record, I have NOTHING against Asians... got lots of friends who are., but I do HATE Buick's with a passion.

An old person backed into my S5 denting the rear quarter panel behind the fender-well. (It was an accord though) I think it was the only time I've ever wished my car could move sideways lol. He was a nice guy and I'm a softie so I let him pay out of pocket so his insurance rates wouldn't go up. I even shopped around a bit to quote him a lower price. But I decided I'd rather spend the money on what I owe on the car... (since my parents fronted the money for it, but I'm not a total leech I swear its just a sad story)... because I'd rather own a dented RX7 then not-own an RX7... technically
