83 rx7 206,000 miles. Was smoking at startup and when under heavy load. I had 10w30 in and it was fine. I changed the oil to 20w50castroil gtx and its smoking like a freight train. It'll smoke on idle until warmed up but as soon as you hit the gas a little it likes to leave a plops of blue smoke. On the road is terrible, I hit the gas and the cars keep a nice 5 car length behind me. It's embarrassing. Do you think I should go back to 10w30? Oil rings or do you think bad omp

Well I thought I would let everyone know. I went ahead and bought 10w30 from wal-mart, the cheapest oil I could find with no additives.

Filled her up and she burnt off some of the 20w50.

Took her for a drive and she still smokes at stoplights but 80% less then what she did.
Bought a can of 4 cylinder restore since I couldn't find lucas stabilizer, I used it before on my old isuzu which had no compression on 2 cylinder and it brought it up enough to drive fairly well.

Smoking is down 90% still a 10% but a major difference.

Time to start saving for a rebuild -____-

-nick- Just thought i'd let everyone know bad oil rings in this motor does not help with heavier oil... it seems to amplify it. Weird.... -nick-

funny, after I changed the oil, mine would miss and billow smoke for a minute after start up. I use castrol too. It is really really bad after not running for a few days.

astonished little kids would point at my car.
