oil pressure sending unit

ok i give bought my son an 85 RX-7 oil pressure gauge does not work . bought a Hatnes manual and it doesnt even mention the oil pressure sending unit. searched and read forums here tell im blue in the face the only referance i have found to this switch is its on the back of the housing ...... errrrrr ok i still havent found it can anyone help me here loving the car fun to drive HATE THE STINKING GOOD FOR GENERAL INFO MANUAL.

The oil pressure sender is located on the rear plate (cast iron) to the right of the rear upper spark plug, on the drivers side. If you've got a J-spec 12a engine made prior to 1981 it won't have an oil pressure sender, just a switch to activate a light as they didn't have oil pressure gauges until '81. You can get around this by drilling/tapping a thread into the base of the oil filter stand (carefully, it's aluminium).

thanks now i know why i couldnt find it someone put a 2 inch threaded bolt in the hole instead of replacing the pressure switch. Well thats all part of buying used cars. All the fun is in finding and repairing other peoples mistakes lol
