Oil Pressure readings 20w/50?

82 rx7 with 79 motor. Oil cooler was a leaking POS. We replaced it with an after market oil cooler and -10 braided lines. We get 20 ish psi at 800 rpm according to the factory guage never goes over 70 or so. That sound ok?

The factory gauge can't be trusted to give you accurate readings. That said, sounds reasonable for a stock engine.

Does your after market oil cooler have an internal oil temperature regulator like the factory one?

No I don't think it has any regulation.

It's my car. We're trying to fix it up. I'm not really sure either. Lol.

i can say, for reference, with a modded (crushed) rear oil pressure regulator on my S4 swap w/ 15w50 mobil1, i have 70psi cold idle, 60psi warm idle and around 90-100 psi over 3k, regardless...with my stock guage

The PO must have modded my oil system cause I get 65-70#s cold and 60 warm at idle. Over 3 (I haven't gone over 4 yet) I hit about 80-90#s. That is on an aftermarket oil gauge.

I use 20-50 castrol GTX

My REW block goes up to 130 or so. Hard to tell exactly since it's only a 100 PSI gauge. Wraps it around and pegs it at zero when it's cold. Guess I need a new gauge with a higher pressure range.

This is with 5W-30, by the way.

Unknown year 12a, stock everything.

20W50 I get roughly 75psi when cold and 50psi warm when driving. At idle it's about 50psi cold and 30psi warm. This is with a Sunpro electronic gauge.

Ok so it's probably ok. I guess as long as the bypass works in the front cover it'll control the pressure from getting too high. I think 20 ish is probably better for the engine at idle than the barely 10 stock does.

I checked the 83 gsl with 40k miles and the oil pressure is really low at idle. And quickly builds on a quick rev. But never goes over 70 according to the stock guage. But it's only got 10w/40 in it.

I am about 60psi cold, 20 at warm idle and 50 under rev. 203k mi,stock gauge, 10w30, oil leaks at omp, drain plug and pan gasket. I thought that my pressure was low but would be corrected by fixing leaks. That sound right?
