Unhappy Oil Leak. Need help and advice

Well a week or two ago i noticed some oil sitting on the engine near the oil filler tube. well, i guess i have a leak in the housing seal or whatever, and it got a little worse. now when i drive for awhile, it puddles and you can see where it has run down the side of the engine-so its leaking quite a bit.

as far as ive heard, this is really not good and the only way to fix it is a rebuild. Is it?

Any help or advice is greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Ryan

I think someone around here said that you can try and tighten the bolts that squeese the engine together, but youll probably break them before you get it to not leak.

Have fun with your engine rebuild!

Well that sucks, but look at it as an opportunity! You have a good reason to port it now (the engine is apart, why not?)

You just beat me with the pic, its already ported, isnt it?

Well, I do have a SP 12A with 20k miles on it just sitting in my garge... e-mail me if you are interested. Shipping would probably be a lot to FL, though.

Well, it's not mine anymore but you're welcome.

You have a dowel pin o-ring leak. Some people have tried JB-welding the area to stop the leak or over-torquing the through-bolts but the only real fix is to tear the engine down.

Some people call it the leak of death. I'd prefer to call it the leak of oppertunity. It means you finally have an excuse to port it!
