Angry Oil Leak

I have a pretty bad oil leak, I have to keep putting oil in every couple of days , So i was wondering if any of you could help me think of what it might be.....I keep hearing about a bad oil cooler(I have a 85 base model 12a engine) Could it be leaking out of there?

Also It smokes pretty bad when I am stopped at a traffic light, At first I thought it was just the oil getting into the engine bay and burning, but I noticed that when I popped the hood it seemed to be comming from the back of the engine bay.....I dont know, mabye its just the oil leak........well, thanks in advance for your input, I really appreciate it

Breck

-=Edit=-
The person I bought it from said there was a leak and said he fixed it by replacing a bad o-ring on the oil cooler. It seemed to work because I have only recently needed to top off my oil.
Also, the same time the leak started, the oil pressure gauge stopped working, Is that possibly because of the leak

Thanks again

oil cooler's oil ring failure is possible but u will need to clean ur engine to pin point where the leak is coming from. i always use the castrol degreaser. strong stuff.

if there is a leak between the center plate and the rotor housings, then its time for a new engine.

well to fix it right yes, but to stop the leak and still drive the hell out of it clean the **** out of the rotor housings and plates then slap on some marintex (like j b weld but a hell of a lot stronger. i did that on my 79 and 81 and put over 50k on them with no more oil leaking

If it's burning oil on the exhaust manifold it may be your oil metering pump. These seem to leak a lot. Its on the right side of you engine in the very front just forward and below the intake manifold. Clean it off well and see if you get fresh oil there. If so you can replace the gasket and oil lines to remedy it.
It could be a lot of things, but thats the only one on that side of the motor that could leak oil on the exhaust.

Good luck,
Mike
