oil cooler
so upon removing my engine I damaged the oil cooler. I was trying to remove the nipples. Not being able to find a SE with a good OC I settled for a second gen OC, and will be mounting that. however I was wondering if anyone here had advice or experience in mounting OC on the first gens. I am not using the stock mounts. I was thinking about using the horn mounts and leaving one horn on the ac bracket but well I am asking for advice before I try. thanks

Not sure about 2nd Gen OC, but I mounted a OC from a '79 into my '85 SE with little modification. In either case, I suggest you set your replacement OC on the floor next to your old SE one. They're all made of aluminum, so easyto bend and cut.
I simply cut and mod'd the brackets from the '79 to match close to the SE ones. Not a perfect fit, but pretty close.
Good luck.

Hey davo,, you've got the right idea, put it somewhere that's not
gonna get hammered, and gets air flow,if you need to mod the
mounts do it,,So you seen my car at the bone yard,,i was there
for about 10 minutes,to get inner wheel well plastic piece, then
i was gone, one of these days though later,.,.,.

yes well for any concerned.
I used several pieces of angle aluminum to brace the OC before the rad opening. it should benefit from the extra air flow. I have an electric fan now so flow will not be a concern. The OC is near the top of the front venturi, so again I'm hoping for the best. I was considering using a 70-82 OC however I wanted better positioning and though this took extra time I am happy with the results.
has anyone here ever noticed how you always find something extra that "needs" done when replacing shortblocks.
All the extra stuff has ended requiring more time than the swap.
