Oil/Coolant temp

So today I've noticed it seems that my engine is running a little warm, My stock temp gauge reads at 3/8-1/3 and my aftermarket oil temp gauge reads 180 or a little less. After the engine is fully warmed up and driven for a little, the rad cap, all the coolant hoses, and where the oil filter is, is very warm, almost unbearable to touch. What would be causing this? I just replaced all the coolant hoses, rad cap and t-stat. Any ideas on this problem? I also used OEM t-stat, so no problems there I believe.

Isn't that about normal? How high are your water temps getting? But from what you've described so far, everything sounds normal to me...

The water temp gauge reads about 3/8 to 1/3 of the gauge. The oil temp reads about 180, but the coolant lines and where the oil filter is is really hot. And where the coolant goes through the intake manifold is really hot, I could burn my hand on it.

Your water temperature gauge sounds like it is working just the same as mine does. I dont' see any problems. Mine usually stays right where you said yours is. Keep in mind that the stock thermostat opens up at 180 degrees F, at which point flow will begin going through the radiator. Also, I believe that the stock clutch-based radiator fan kicks in at 203 degrees F. So I would think you could expect to see anywhere between 180 F and 200 degrees F for your water temps in normal operation. To put that in perspective, really hot bath water would be about 120 degrees F.

When you say that the oil filter, and intake manifold are hot, they should be. Temperatures at 180 F or above will burn you pretty quick.

Also, it sounds like you have the beehive oil cooler. Remember that it is a water-to-oil cooler, meaning that the heat from your oil is being transferred to your coolant via a heat exchanger (the beehive). Since the oil is transferring its heat to the water side of the heat exchanger you would expect that is should be a little cooler on average than the water temperature. I would expect the water temp to be around 180 F. You said that your oil is 180 F or less. Sounds like everything is working perfectly to me.

Okay, I just wanted to make sure. Thanks for that info. I wasn't sure what the temperature should exactly be. Thanks.
