Talking Ohhhhhh Yeeeaaaahhhhhhh!!!!!!

I drove my rx7 today
I drove my rx7 today
I drove my rx7 today
I drove my rx7 today
I drove my rx7 today
I drove my rx7 today
I drove my rx7 today
I drove my rx7 today
I drove my rx7 today

I drove my rx7 today
I drove my rx7 today!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

After a year and 3 months of not driving her, becuase i was either away at college, or the rear brakes had exploded or whatever else.... the project is done, and i drove her today.

I just finished a project including:

85 GSL Rear End Swap
FB 5spd Tranny Swap
Mazdatrix Race PP and S/S Clutch Disc
New Rotors and MetalMaster Pads on all 4 corners
Finally getting my Dell'Orto to run right.
New Idler arm bushings (there werent ANY there )

I had her insured and registered as of monday, and was just waiting on parts to get the brake system completed, which didnt show up until today (even though they were promised to me last friday... i wont name names, but only because i'm in too good of a mood right now.

Anyway, she's all i remembered and more, she turns better, stops WAY better, shifts like a dream (and i have 5 gears now so my hwy mileage will improve)... the clutch actually grabs and dosent slip above 5000rpm, where the fun is just starting, and basically... its almost orgasmic.

my ears were too long deprived of that delicious noise the car makes, especially 6 grand and upward, and she'll chirp into 4th gear now.

i dont know what else to say, i'm driving up to rochester with her for the weekend to party with my friends, and there's nothing i look forward to more than the 2.5hour drive doin 80 on the interstates!

*breathes sigh of relief* Thanks to everyone on the forum that helped me with either parts or information to get this done, it took a long time (most of it was stupid bullshit that broke, and i had to spend more money on... but oh well) and i bled a lot doing it... but SHEEEE"S BAAACCCKKKK!

-Kurt

edit: pics at http://hroman.slac.com/rx7/Kurt/ there's a bunch more of the back together process, but i gotta get in touch with Bizzaro to have him put them up.

edit2: early next week, i'll have an FD alt to put in, as my stereo, efans, lights do NOT get along well... if you have any info on teh FD alt wiring into an SA, let me know. (max7 i'm lookin at you for this one)... i know i'll have to run the charge wire direct to the batt, as to not annhilate my fusible links, but other than that, it should be pretty easy.

Very nice, I love that color of paint, it's a color I've never expected to even see on a RX-7 before...

thanks guys, i'm up in rochester partying with my good friends now. me and my best friend eric are about to go tackle some nice twisties and check it out.

the 2 hours at 80 on the freeway were great, the car almost drives itself. point it straight down the road and let go, i think i got up to 3 minutes without touching the wheel to correct it.

btw, the color is early 90's ford Cayman Blue Metallic.
