Id be interested to see if the engine ran lean when it blew that seal, but your plugs are all gas fouled now to give any indication. Definitely put new plugs on your new engine when you get it and see how they are burning if your gonna be running the same carb. Wouldn't want it to happen a second time.

I got a rebuilt and street ported 12A engine with 0 miles. I used a atkins master overhaul kit and racing beat streetable porting templates. Also got a header similar to racing beat but not a crappy pace header. I lube and turn the engine over every few days to a week to keep things moving. Will sell both together for $650 without shipping included. I just lubed the engine again today and the compression is pretty freaking solid for a engine that isn't even broken in yet. Hers the link to both threads:

Kind of sounds like what my first engine did, except mine started burning oil like crazy, and then lost compression on the front rotor. After the first dud of a replacement engine (which I got ripped off) and ended up not using, I went to Pettit racing and built one from parts. I still have a whole 12A worth of parts sitting around if you need anything. I have a set of Atkins corner seals/rx8 springs and a new set of viton oil control rings somewhere. I think I have new oil seal springs somewhere as well, let me know if you want them. Most of the hard bits (housings, and irons) are trash because someone couldn't port for ****, and it had RA seals in it which I don't trust.

SeaFoam
I would try a SeaFoam treatment or ATF to be sure it is not just a seal sticking due to carbon. For ten bucks it is worth a shot.
Good Luck

yeah its dead . A good friend of mine came over we checked the spark on the car and other things and that was fine. We did the pulse compression test and there were full pulses on the rear rotor and absolutely nothing on the front rotor. So i have a dead 12A. Time to go 12A shopping.....not exactly perfect timing by any means by hey that's life.

Just remember she'll come back better than ever.
Any reason for the death? How many miles do you have on it? From what I know it is odd for an N/A rotary to just go out like that. You sure you didn't overheat it? Was your metering pump functionary?

the engine had 159k on it.....original 12A. No it did not over heat. From what i can remember yes the OMP was working properly. Like i said the past month or two it has felt like it was kinda starving for fuel at highway speeds only...it did not have the usual kick like it use too. And nothing like a clogged up fuel filter...this felt different. Someone mentioned it may have been running lean...how the hell do i check for that ?
And about the seafoam ..... i did sea foam her about 2 weeks ago before i filled her up. Down the gas tank not the carb.

reading this again reminded me of a bonehead move i did recently. If the 12A did infact blow because it ran lean then then it is my fault then. Some time back (3 months approx) i was running into an issue with the car idling very low (100 -200 rpm) and i went to go turn the idle screw to bump um the idling well..i turned the wrong screw.....i was moving the air/mixture screw way too much before i realized wtf i did. Now i don't know much about carbs so i tried to correct my mistake but i really did not know what i ended up setting it back at. I finally did find the idle screw and i adjusted my idle after the fact. Could this have been possibly the reason why i blew out the motor? If it is then what an expensive mistake Hope someone can chime in

If it ate bearings or plates, be sure to ultrasonically clean the oil cooler at a minimum. Or replace it.

THanks mang. And about Felix's motor that is extremely cheap.....i almost have the cash for it,.......so if he still has it and i got the cash ready i will buy it. Street ported and a brand new rebuild...**** you can;t go wrong with that price.
