OER carbs any good?
I am looking an OER carb setup. 44mm. For sale for 675$ at rotary shack with the intake manifold. Are these any good? or are they a cheap imitation of a webber? I have been trying to get a hold of a mikuni or webber setup for quite sometime, but everytime it seems I,ve made a deal with someone, they drop off the face of the earth, and I dont get my carb.
I could always get a new webber and manifold from racing beat for about the same $, but they say that it is a little too much carb for a stockport 12a. Is this true?

The new ones are from Spain a few years ago they started producing them. I think they are still on stike in Spain. The older ones are Made in Italy which most think are better made and can be bored out more than the newer ones. From what Ive seen, people want the Italian 48 IDA's are worth more and people will pay more for them than the newer ones made in Spain....Someone correct me if Im wrong. Carl

Ha, didn't know that they were also made in Italy. Can anyone else see the irony in this.
A carb producer union in Europe on strike in a region of world that has strict engine/emission standards, extremely high fuel prices, and finally- the world has been fuel injected for largely the past quarter century and most bases for modification starts there. Who are they to say the market value dictates higher wages to produce old school carbs that dominate a very small market today. Someone correct me on this if this is a very inaccurate. I guess I'd have to put myself in there shoes. I'm sure webers are used still on small engines still ofcourse too though.

ok guys here is the scoop on the oer carbs...
weber is out of bussiness as far as i know, however there is some weber carbs out there, for a little while anyways... but for now availability sucks with the weber carbs and the suppliers will run out eventually.
now, i found a japanese copy of a weber sidedraft called oer.. its a new product and its finished nice.. also they have more features than a weber such as externally adjustable float level, wich makes adjusting the float level a breeze.. also the oer carbs have an externally adjustable accelerator pump, so if you want a little more pump squirt, or less a simple twist of a screw, and your done,also the needle valve is capable of higher fuel pressure. not to mention these carbs are readily available!
however we are still doing r&d on the turbo blowthrough systems with the oer but results at this point are looking really good!

we have tried downdraft webers in comparison to the sidedraft carbs and we have found that ultimately the downdraft will give you the most performance , however the sidedraft system with the longer intake runners will give you a much broader powerband wich results in better driveability.. ultimately the choice you make on the intake system depends on what type of driving your going to be doing....

I was under the impression Weber was still on strike in Spain. Do you think they are done making them for good now? Who knows...good thing ive got a stash of IDA's tucked away

uhh, weber was on strike 2 + years ago, since then they have gone into bankrupcy and the government has auctioned off all the tooling to pay off thier debt... so ive heard anyways.... ida carbs will be the last to run out, since that was thier last production run
