Thumbs up OE Mazda parts still available ? Hell yes !

I called the pars department at Albany Mazda ( here in Albany, Georgia ) and asked if they could print out ALL available parts for an FB. They said theyd check...called Mazda... told NO, then called me back in minutes and offered to take it a section at a time. I said sure, let's go with front and rear suspension and brakes. Fine, come by and pick it up later today.

I picked u a fat envelope that contained way better exploded drawings than the parts manual or the microfiches and a printout of the parts for each catagory. This may be old news to you guys, but they have EVERY PART available.

I expected the percentage to be like 25% ( like interior parts and accessories.) I'm not saying that I'll be paying their top dollar for everything, but damn it's hard to find aftermarket stuff and there's some things you just dont slap on from the junkyard.

...thought maybe somebody else thought like me... that Mazda had dried up on parts.

Not every part is still available

I used to work at mazda, and quite a few interior pieces are not available. Also GSL-SE parts seem to be dissapearing at an alarming rate. Rear calipers for a gsl-se are no longer available

SO are fron rotors

HELL, the speedometer cable is not available anymore. Just because you got a mazda part number doesnt mean its available

I could give the parts guy the part number for a 20b-rew shortblock, but its not going to come up in his computer at all, even though its a valid part number.

Malloy Mazda

Malloy Mazda in Woodbridge, VA is THE place for genuine OEM parts. Thought everyone knew that... Ray Crowe is practically a modern legend in the RX-7 community.

1-888-533-3400, know that number by heart and program it on your phone. Ray is a good guy and does a lot for RX-7 owners. His price is usually the cheapest anywhere, and definitely cheaper than Mazdatrix. (As already mentioned, not all parts are available.)

If you have any doubts do a search or check out this recent poll:

I didn't say ALL parts for all cars.

We started with 1981 ( FB ) front and rear suspensions and brake system. For those parts, every single part has an inventory quantity of one (1) or greater. That means they are available and the indeed the reason for his printout and for me going to the trouble of asking for it and picking it up. I've HAD the parts manual.

Every time I got to the Mazda dealership I go through a big "is it available" ruckus.... They tell me it is, then when I go to order it they change their tone... Rear brake line, e-brake cables into the drums, and a smattering of other parts. They check the microfiche, then look it up in the computer and say "yeah we have at least one of those in Toronto". Then I come back and try to order it and they're like "that part is no longer available".

What buggers me is when the dealership can't get you a part, can't suggest a source for the part, and basically tells you that you're SOL and should get rid of the car. Buggers, like hell if I'm ever getting rid of my car!

Here in Calgary most of them wont even look up parts anymore. They say they only go back to '86. There are 1 or 2 good guys that will, but you better ask for them by name or you're SOL here.

A cross-reference between the fc's and the fb's would be nice so that I could order parts that are similar on each. Esspecially for the SE's, things like the plugs, oil filters, etc. must share a number of similar parts.
