O-rings.. oil leaks... sigh
first off let me introduce myself, my name is Matt and about 2 months ago I bought my first 79 rx7 to replace my beloved '73 cal-looker bug, i needed something a little more reliable (i built a raceprep 1835 for the bug) and for $350 I had to have this copper painted rex...
Anyway overtime I've modified my car for more power but since I've had it, it's had the dreaded o-ring leak and some internal oil leak(smokes everyonce awhile after letting off the gas), but compression checks say the apex seals are strong on this motor with over 150,000 miles on the og motor. My question would it be alright to pull apart the motor to replace the seals with out re-surfacing the housings and rotors? I want to this motor to last a bit longer until I have the money for a 12a streetport motor
Thanks for anyhelp!

Yeah, shutup kid.
I dont see why it wouldnt be ok, but if you were going through all the trouble I'd think that you would want a complete rebuild so its all done right and will last even longer.

I'd leave it alone. If it smokes then you pretty much need to rebuild - the oil control seals and O-rings are half the cost of a rebuild kit.
If you're determined that you're going to pull it apart, you could always port it yourself It's what I did. Spend LOTS of time reading up on porting, though.
