******* man...thats what i was plannin on doin...just the soft seals...but then i budged for new oil control rings, apex seal springs, upgraded corner seal springs, and the rubber corner seal inserts...
only thing is...i was under the impression that a 1/2 bridge would only put out around 175rwhp...i hope i was wrong and you are right ...id love to hit the 200hp mark!

Thanks for the info man! I was thinking about picking up a spare engine this summer, and possibly trying out this whole rebuild/porting deal over the winter. Haven't done anything like that yet, but I'm willing to give it a try.
Your car is looking very nice!

That Thing sounds MEAN!!! Damn It makes me want to go bridge port
How much does it cost? Horsepower? And DO i have to go carbd? I dunno **** about carburetors=( ,Would it be better EFI or Carb on a BP?
I love that sound

how can you know nothing about carburetors? they are 100 time more simple than EFI...i prefer carbs to EFI anyday
as far as HP...if you would have read the WHOLE thread...you would have noticed that trochoid says he's heard that you get around 240rwhp...but i think (from what ive heard) that its more like 175rwhp...but also like stated above..i hope that trochoid is right

About the carbs I'm serious i dont know **** about a carbureted car, i've own only EFI's =( B/C i work w/ electronics and stuff /I rather keep my EFI and run standalone
BTW i'm about to sell some stand alone ECU's Soon
Just have to get'em approved By the FCC

i dont think it will make much of a difference whether you go for carbureted or fuel injected...i think its more a matter of preference and cost...(correct me if im wrong...)

If a stock port 12a can get to 140-150 hp with intake and exhaust, and an sp is near the 175+ range, then i should be able to at least break 200+.
As far as cost, that is wide open. It depends on what you need to replace, how much of the work can do yourself and what tools you have. I have probably less than $300 in getting mine in the car and running, but i also had spare engines for parts and lots of tools and equipment, and a stubborn streak that said I was going to do all of it myself. Hell, the ceramic clutch that I took out of my 2nd gen and put in this car cost more than the engine build and install.

I just started my half-bridge 12A (got the thing on the stand) last night. I'm goin with the housings from an 82, rotating assembly from an 85, center housing from a GSL-SE (for the injector holes), a lower intake manifold from Mazdatrix for a sidedraft carb, the mid and upper intake manifolds from an 89-91 NA with the VDI, the ignition setup from an 89-91, along with all the sensors, wiring, and ECU from the 89-91. I'm hoping to be able to get by with a fuel controller for the time being until I graduate and get a real job and get standalone. I hope to be able to make over 200 horsepower and keep it reliable and streetable and I think that the injection as well as the VDI will help me with this.

Oh, I have all the time in the world.
I'd rather not spend more money on some fancy die tool killamajig, as that's money better spent on a carb, fuel pump, and the rebuild materials!

Not true! My little bro bkm_rx7 used a dremel instead of a die grinder (even though i had told him, and he had heard the die grinder would work better). He said the dremel was more precise, of course it doesn't cut as much, but he said the die grinder cut too fast and he would rather take his time and make the ports look better, and not ruin an iron in the process. Coming from someone who could have used whichever one he wanted, you can't say the dremel wont work.
And, it did work, the ports looked great and it didn't take him very long at all. As long as you have a good carbide bit, you'll be fine using a dremel!

I didn't say it wouldn't work, it just takes longer.
My middle name is Tim 'More power' Allen.
With the amount of time and work I've put into this car, (it's been in the shop since Thanksgiving weekend), anything that will save time and effort, I will use. I also don't have a Dremel, for some reason. I seem to have everything else,... not,... one never has enough tools.
A Dremel is a cheaper option, one doesn't need a good sized compressor to power it. I do find a die grinder very handy with the wide range of attachements available for them.

My gsl-se with a weber, stock ports, and blown water seal put 140 to the wheels. Look a little closer at the second gen forum. There are plenty of na13b's making great power. One guy with standalone and custom injection put 197 to the wheels on a stock port s5 na 13b. You should expect about 160-180 to the wheels out of a half bridge 12a. 180-210 full bridge 12a and about 210-250 from a PP 12a.
also...trochoid and everyone else here, i figured out that i probably should have ported my endplates instead of my intermediate housing the bridges...cuz they are the secondary intakes...i didnt realize this...
which did you bridgeport trochoid???
*EDIT* - i went back and looked at my porting pics...i did do them right...wtf...STILL HAVING ISSUES!
