So here is the plan at the moment. I picked up the Epsilons from Rotor-motor (thanks Brett), and they even have decent tires on them, so that problem is solved for the moment.
The 13x8 Revolutions will receive race rubber. Leaning toward the 888 or maybe a Hankook tire. I delayed this decision too long, so I won't have them for the race this weekend, but maybe for the next event.

i will note that the hankook took more than 2 seconds off our laptimes vs the R888 though, and then the hoosier is about another second from that.

This seems like a good thread to post this on. I got my first 7 ('80 LS) a few months ago and needed to replace some very ... very old tires before I drove it at all, and I ran into the same issue ... poor selection in a 13".
I ended up just getting the KR21's. I needed something so I could drive and didn't have enough time to researching everything possible. It seems to me that 185 was a bit skinny even for street, but I wasn't sure how much I could push the width before running into problems.
I have a complete stock suspension and wheels (the gold painted alloy that come on the LS), so does anybody know how wide I can take a tire before needing to roll fenders (I'd like to not do that).

on a stock wheel 205-60-13's fit like stu says.
in the how big i tire can i run dept, i'm running 225-45-15 on a 15x7 wheel. i have room to go to a 15x8 wheel, and 245's in the rear. in the front 245's probably wont fit. with 225's you NEED to have camber plates, and actually they should be your first mod

News from the race this weekend:
Obviously I'm in a bit of a tire predicament, and for this event I was left with damn near nothing to run (let alone get me to the event in Lansing). Two of the Sumis were down to cords, so I couldn't drive them that far even if there wasn't rain in the forcast.
So, to make the trip, I had the not-quite-worn-out Sumis on the back (low profile) and some skinny/tall 175s on the front. Looked like a damn clown car! But, it got me to the event.
Once there, I threw the corded Sumis on the front. I didn't even bother raising the air pressure, setting the camber, or anything else. I mean, considering the condition of my tires, why bother?
Well, to my surprise the car still went like a bat out of hell and handled like a dream.
On Saturday there was a modified Miata in my class on very fat sticky rubber. He was a bit faster than me, but up until his last run I had him because he couldn't get a clean run at those speeds. Until his last run, that is. He took me by about 1 1/2 seconds. But, at least I made him earn it! lol. Out of 59 cars, I came in 54th overall; 2nd in my class.
Sunday: Blew my first two runs because it was starting to rain and I was just plain trying too hard. The track was "moist" during the remaining 4 runs, but I got into the groove eventually and turned two very nice times. Took the win in CSP, and was beaten by only 3 drivers (2 in my nemesis, the supercharged Miata on 255 Hoosiers, and a new Mustang took me by 1/10th of a second).
This set of Sumitomos has seen the last of their races. They gave up their lives for me this weekend! By the end of the event, one of them looked like a metal brush, with wires sticking out all over (found that out the hard way, OUCH!). I think those wires actually might have added to the traction at the end. lol.
Today I will be ordering a set of Hankook Ventus race tires. So, from now on, I'm going for FTD!

Thanks man, but I'd already seen that site. Call me oldfashioned, but I consider a 100% increase in price to be outright extortion. I mean, I love the damn things, but I love them because they're dirt cheap. Double the price and the luster kinda fades a bit.
If I was going to spend 100 bucks on a tire, I'd spend it on something at least a little bit sticky and actually beat my opponents, rather than just scaring them a bit.

Are you able to use a different tire size? like 205/60 R13, That's what I have on my car. (Note: I can't remember the width of my wheel for the life of me)
Those tires are cheaper.
Scratch that. I didn't see a previous post. I see that you already discussed this.

Yeah. I picked up a set of skinny wheels for daily driving (yuck), and I'll be mounting the Hankooks on the 8" revolutions. I placed the order yesterday, so they might be in before the weekend.
