no fuel pressure
Hello everyone, I am at a lost here, wondering if you guys can help.
First i would like to say YES I searched the forum, and. The answer might have been there, but I didnt find it.
I just bought a 1985 gsl, The prevous owner installed racing beat, headers, presilencer, and muffler, coil over kit on all four corners.wen I bought the car the owner ,told me he was selling, because he believed the motor was blown,
I got it home and that was not the case car started up and idled fine.
Checked compression, seemed fine at about 100 psi, on the tester, all the way around.
The issue I am having is when i press the gas to drive her, she hesitates for a few seconds, before anything happens.
Changed the fuel filter, and put a in line gas pressure guage it read zero.
Changed the pump still no pressure
If i pinch the return line, i get about 2.5 psi, let it go no pressure,
The glass bowls have fuel,
I really dont know much about the fuel system, which is where i believe the problem is ,
I am just lettng u all know my diagnostic,
Help me fiqure this out.... If u need any more info let me know.......
So basically changed fuel filter, and ranvthe car with a inline fuel guage
Got 0psi, pinched return line pressure came up, and car drove better but still not right, pressure quage was never ever steady but at about 2.5 psi
Released the return line pressure came down,
Bought new fuel pump, made no diffrence
Ignition was checked, works fine , motor was fine on compression test....
Let me know...

Awesome idea, i will post a video tommorow,
Just left my garage, this is what i did today
Bought another fuel pump(stock), got a brand new in line fuel pressure guage, got some gas in a 5 gallon tank and 7 feet of rubber fuel line
First i connected the out from the fuel pump into my newly bought fuel line, I ran that to the front of the car to the in onbthe carb,in line i had a fuel preasure gauge and it read very.just for the hell of it i piched the return line and fuel stop fluing completely, I know thos for sure cauae i had a glass filter in line as well, to observe the fuel flow,
So now i remove the hose from the return while the car was running and thw gas was pouring out just as fast as it was going in....
Next i had the same setup except this time feeding from a 5 gallon gas jug, instead of the fuwl tank, with the same effect
So i put it all back, but thia time i put the fuel pressure quage right at the pump and it read 3 psi i believe, it was not steady , it was pulsating very fast from 3 to 0
The carb was rebuilt prio to me buying it, starting to think somethibg wrong in the carb

Sorry didnt reread my post,,,what i was trying to say once i ran my own line from the gas tank to the to the carb, my fuel pressure guage read zero..then i pinched the return line, from the carb, and looking thru glass filter i had in line with the fuel pressure quage, I could see the flow of gas stop
With the car running, and the same set up, i pulled the return line out and gas was flowing as fast as it was going in. I found that odd,
Then i fed from a 5 gallon tank, to see if i was clogged in the tank, and still no pressure.
When i am driving or the car is under load, is when then hesitation happens.
What happens is that i take off in 1st, press the gas pedal, and 5-4-3-2-1 the car starts to go, shift tosecond, same thing happens. Every time i let go of the gas pedal, i have to wait, she doesnt bog die and try to dye, after a few seconds ,she just runs right, also i have to literally floor it for this to happen, it doesnt happen if i keep my pedal half way, if i do that she just doesnt move ...
Also how do i edit, the option was there earlier,
I m trying to do this from my phone and all that typing was exhausting

Well, an update problem has been solved
The previous owner rebuild the carburetor so I wasn't sure what they have done.so I just removed the intake and carburetor and replace it with a new used pair she runs like a champ now . Next step would be to get a rebuild kit and see whats up with the carb,
Thanks for all the help.....
