Next ? Why doesn't my car start after work?
Before I begin, I must say the info on this forum is awesome. I may not post much but I read a lot. Thanks for all the useful info.
As stated in a previous post I have a GSL-SE 13B streetported w/ RB Holley 550, RB headers straight pipe back to Primaflow muffler. My starting problem only occurs after work. In the morning it starts perfectly w/ out touching the gas pedal and stays running. After sitting at work for 8 hrs I go to start it and I have to push the gas a little and it seems like it cranks forever and finally sputters to a start and blows out a big puff of white smoke. What's the deal?

Really! Me too.
I feel your pain my friend. Do you also notice your coolant level droping? I have an '85 gsl-se, and it has the same problem. Starts no problem after it sits awhile, but if I turn it off to run inside the liqour store more than likely its not going to start again. From my understanding it is caused by coolant leaking into the rotor housing after you shut it down. The rubberband gasket seal from housing to side cover most likely failed. Now for the super bad news, Time for a rebuild.
I'm going to attempt to put an fc 13b in my car. Anyone who has info about this swap, please share your knowlege.

Sorry to hear your having the same problem, but I don't think mine is exactly the same cause my engine was just rebuilt and I am not experiencing any coolant level drop or noticing any coolant/water in my oil.

A shot in the dark here, but try leaving the fuel cap loose. It may be building up pressure in the fuel tank, and causing the engine to be semi-flooded. This would generally not be a problem after sitting all night, as the temps are cooler, so the pressure would not build up. During the day, pressure can build in the tank from warmer temps and sunlight, and if the system is not venting, it can cause a carb to flood. If you hear a "Whoosh" sound when you remove the fuel cap, that is a sure sign the system is not venting correctly.

So what would cause the fuel system not to vent properly? Where do I start as far as trouble shooting the problem?
