Newbie here! Former 1st Gen. 3 car owner

Hello all. I am a "former" 1st gen. RX-7 owner and I plan on purchasing another. My previous ones where two 79's and one 80'. It has been since about 1995 since I owned one but I am getting the fever again. Except this time I wanna go with an 84 or 85 GSL-SE. I also wanna make this one much faster than stock and with all the useful knowledge provided by this website, I should be able to do just that.

My current vehicle is a 1999 Nissan Maxima SE-Limited in the rare red color (Crimson Blaze is what Nissan calls it). It is a 5 speed and the VQ 6-cylinder is a great engine. I could mod this vehicle but I find my heart still lies with the RX-7. Besides the Max is FWD and that is just impossible to get the power to the ground.

I saw a 85 GSL-SE in the Trading Post today and I tried to call but got no answer. The ad read as follows:

"85 GSL-SE, very fast, PW, PS, CC, AC, needs minor body work, $800 OBO."

I will try to get the guy down to about $600 or so. I don't know how well or if it even runs given the lack of info in the ad. Any tips of what I should look for given that I am only used to 79's and 80's would be most helpful. And does this seem like a decent price?

I thank you all in advance and I look forward to becoming a REX owner again and conversing with you all on a regular basis.

Eric

800 is not bad at all depending on the "body work" needed, especially if the interior is ok and the mechanics are good.

oh yeah, welcome to the board.

It's been sold.

HadaGSL-SE,

Unfortunately it had been sold when I finally got a hold of someone. Oh well, there will be plenty of more. I went to a local junkyard here in VA Beach, VA and they must of had 6 1st gen RX-7's. It is great how many resourses there are for parts for these cars. Now I just need to find one so that I can actually need to buy something off of one of the junkyard cars

There's a few on autotrader.com...

Also, put a post in the "RX-7's for sale/wanted" section of this forum, that's how I found my SE
