New third member leaking

Hey guys I just replaced my third member with a new used unit, The problem is the autoparts store had no gasket so they recommended that I use this gasket maker* a rooled up piece if rubber fibers) anyways, My reare end is leaking just a little bit towards the bottom I KNEw i should have gone with my first choose which was the liquid gasket maker.
Do any of you guys recommened a product I can buy to seal the leak from the outside I can cleean the area well, down to the metal if needed.. I just do not have the time rite know to do the the whole thing over again..I know the proper way would be to take it apart and replace the gasket properly...
Thanks CRuz

The diff doesn't use a fiber gasket, it takes a sealant. If you want to save the new diff, it will have to be taken apart and done right. Mazda part # for their sealant is 8527 77 739. I'm not up on all of the Permatex gasket sealers, but I'm sure they make one for this application. If you lay out a plan for the repair, it shouldn't take more than 3 hours.

Depending on how thick the gasket you used is, it may be throwing off the alignment of the diff and axles, possibly causing uneven wear or other damage. I would do the repair before driving the car at all. It takes very few miles to ruin a diff that's run dry of lube. Friend of mine did that in high school, it actually welded the gears together.

just go with the black or grey, you don't need high temp....Make sure your surfaces are oil FREE when you slap it on. Brake cleaner is your friend.

I agree with that. The copper stuff was the same price so I went with that.
