New T2 Engine Project

So I've been meaning to put a T2 motor into my SE for awhile now as the engine in it is sure to be dieing in the next 50k miles and it just happened to be an upgrade I wanted to do instead of rebuilding the SE's engine. So while the SE motor is still running I've been kinda poking around at getting a T2 core.

Well, I met a real nice guy, Eric aka MazdaMiester, locally who wanted some parts for his 626 from some spares I wasn't going to use so we traded some stuff but in passing I mentioned I was kinda on the lookup for a T2 motor with ECU etc to rebuild from. We talked about it a bit and said he'd keep his eye out but more or less just friendly conversation. Well... I get a call one day and he basically said he got my motor. Imagine my surprise. So we arranged details and he brings it over on his truck.

Now... when he said he got my motor I was thinking, you know, basic core... would have to search for parts etc. Oh no... not Eric... this guy not only found it... he completely GUTTED this car... I mean completely... he didn't cut a single wire... he completely pulled not only the harness but the ENTIRE car's harness all the way to the back. I've got the wires that go to the damn door switches. Words can not express what he brought to my garage so here are pictures of what he pulled out:

We think the car was in the yard because of this clutch (you'll notice there is no pad left... at all... it couldn't have possibly worked:

My hat is off to you Eric... I have never seen such a fine pull job. Thanks buddy!

Thats awesome. Hope it all works out for you man. I too, Am someday going to have a s5 t11 in my first gen. Leave it stock though. stock turbo..everything. Maybe exhaust and all that. But that would defintaely be enough power for me.

Looks great! Probably the next best thing to having the whole car there. Any idea if its a runner, or just a core motor?

I've suprised how much total witing is in the FCs, and it takes quite a bit of work to remove the entire harness without cutting. You won't use most of it, but save the rest for connectors and spare wire. Good score on the TII.

Eric (MazdaMiester) is amazing at pulling cars apart with parts intact and functioning. He believes in not cutting anything because you never know what you will or won't need. He's just setup a brand new shop also near downtown Saint Louis, MO.

It really wasnt a bad pull at all. I was surprised with how EASY it was. Its harder to pull an engine in my mx6(ok, thats exaggerating, i left the mx6's PITA bolts out). Regardless, it was easy. took 4 hours to get everything you see in the pic and the entire rear suspension out of the car and loaded in our trucks. it was myself and a friend of mine who uses the rear ends in mazda trucks... hes got a fleet. I am anti-torch and anti-wire cutters unless you're talking about rubber lines...those should always be new. Wiring harnesses are one of the most commonly destroyed items on a car and it baffles me because they are SO expensive.
As far as cost was concerned.... it was a barter. I work on the easy system, whichever way is most beneficial to both parties is what happens. I needed something which i could not get, brett had it. He needed what i got, so we traded. I have no problems trading as long as i feel both parties are winners in the situation.

Brett, lets see some more pics as you've gotten it torn down further.

-Eric
