new S3 - what to do...
hey all
i used to own a Series 8 type rz, but wrote it off,
i have just purchased a series 3 rolling shell which is in quiet good condion
basically, im going to put my series 8 engine and gear box in the car, and my aim is to produce a high revving turbo drift car,
im contemplating installing The FULL wiring harness from the fd into the S3,
basically im going to have the s8 white gauges custom built into a carbon fibre dash,
i will also be having carbon door trims,
but anyway,
i had a quick look on the site, but didnt come up with much, as i said quick look,
now im lookingfor good websites/ p[laces to obtain aftermaket parts for the s3,
in particular, rigid/sway bars, rollcage, coilovers, brake upgrades, bodykits and diff
im aiming for about a 4-6oo hp build so i need things that are going to perform best, im also a big hills drivers, and need the car to be able to handle it...
any help would be appreciated,
and i'll keep you informed on my progress,!

Brake and suspension upgrade parts, look into RESpeed. They offer T2 adapter kits, but you will need to aquire the stock T2 parts, in order to complete the swap.
As for swapping an FD engine/trans into a FB shell, it can be done, but is very time/money consuming.

There are a couple of members here who have posted thier 3rd gen swaps. It's more work than the more common TII swaps and, iirc, the twin turbos do not fit the 1st gen engine bay. With your hp goals, the twins will be long gone anyway.
As for mounting, it will be similiar to the S5 swaps due to the electronic mop.
Somewhere I think there is a vendor page, but the mains ones will be ReSpeed, Mariah, Racing Beat, G-force Engineering, Grannys, Black Dragon.
Spend some more time looking around, it's all out there. Sounds like a major project and you have a good idea of where you want to go with it. Btw, I think you Aussies are nuts, in a good way, especially when it comes to your rotarys.
I my sig line is a link to the online FSMs, and other rotary related material. Enjoy reading and download what ever you need. The last link is my little project.

cheers,
basically im going to put the convert the whole wiring harness from the S8, into the s3, and im going to get my white faced s8 gauges custom mounted into my carbon dash, im going to put carbon door trims in too,
the dash is just going to be the guages, i am going to eliminate the aircond vents, and acc conrtols, etc, and replace all of this with gauges and dvd setup (dopnt get me wrong im not a sound junky i just want a screen there) :P
im also going to pull the indicator/ woper cluster of the fd to put onto the fb, just to give it a fresher look and feel,
im converting all my key holes from the fb to the fd key (as the new keys look nicer)
it's going to be a fun project i think, but it's going to take a year or so (as im about to buy a house)
MirX - us aussies are crazy! but we all think that kiwi boys are more so,
(new zealanders!) hehehe
