Question New To Rx7s

Hi guys,

I am thinking about buying a 85 Rx7, It says Wanko Engine in the Ad... Can someone please enlighten me on what this means cause its really throwing me off

It's a Wankel Rotary Engine. No pistons, I think somone has the link to howstuffworks.com they have a page on there that shows and explaines how it works.

welcome to the club. it's a rotary engine and is really a wankel engine. i would do some research on it if you are thinking about buying the car. its a great car and if its in good shape you should get it.

Ok.. whew!!! I thought it ment the engine was gonna blow or sumptin... did kno it was another name for rotary... and thanks for the welcome! Yea i'm waiting for a engine for my 240sx so i wanted a nice car to drive around till my 240 is ready... but since its gonna be a Rx7 then Im keeping it. Any normal wear and tear i should look for? and is 750 a good price?

The main thing to look out for is to see if it smokes a bit,
like oil is dripping on the exhaust manifold. But for $750 if she runs have fun. The little busser that goes off when you get near the read line is just a reminder you are driving proberly.

The Only thing is that its completely gutted. He said he put a new carb and rebuilt tranny in

This is for a later model RX-7 than the one you're looking at but maybe someone can point you towards a similar document for earlier cars.
