New owner

Just thought I would introduce myself and my new toy. Completely impracticle for the family, but that is why we also have a van.

My new toy is a 1985 RX-7 GSL-SE, 5sp, 13B, a/c ripped out by previous owner (how much weight does that save?), 187,000 km, aside from the Eibach Pro-kit springs installed by a previous owner, it is stock.

Only a bit of rust along the rear quarter panel, couple of door-dings, could do with a new paint job eventually.

I have lusted over this car for 20 years. Only the 1st gen turn my crank. I still cannot believe that I now own one.

My plan is to be able to fix most things my self, so be prepared for questions in the future (yes, I will use the search capabilities first).

First things first, welcome to the new and improved rx7club forum!

Removing the a/c saves you about 20lbs. Plus, you wont be tempted to turn it on and waste horsepower!

Woohoo!
She passed the safety inspection with flying colours! The mechanic was admiring it.
An emissions test was done less than 1 year ago so I am good to go.

Smile Pics finally! And a question...

Here are a few pics of my new RX-7.

Also, please look at the engine pic. I know that GSL-SE's are supposed to have power-assisted steering, but it appears (and feels) to be absent. I don't mind it, it actually feels good to have so much response from the steering. I was just confirming.

Looks pretty good nice and clean paint doesn't look to back no real bad oxidation.

There is a bit of rust bubbling on the driver's rear quarter and on the passenger left rear quarter between the wheel well and the rear bumper. Chipped paint on the hood.

It's not perfect, but with only 187k km (approx 115k miles) she is not bad at all.
