I bought brand spank'n new,,The hose's were $ 101.00 and the cooler
was ,,,get this,,,$634.70 ,,both from mazdatrix,,,,Too much money,
i know, but i'll NEVER have to worry about that part of the engine..
i could have bought a used cooler for $ 100.00 but who knows the
condition it's in,,,i plan on relocateing the cooler from under the rad.
the somewhere else ,,not sure yet where,,so i'll need longer hoses..
When it comes to my 7..moneys no object,,,it's a good car and deserves
the best,,,,to a point

Yeah,,i understand,,and it's no problem to create mounts to locate the
cooler anywhere.I just don't like it under the rad. so close to the ground.
Even more now, $634.70 dollors for a small, but important part..****,,,
that's a paint job,,or even half a rebuilt for a 12a,,,,you know ?

Anytime baby!
before you fix
It is a common fix for the 84-85 leaky oil cooler to simply remove it and take it a guy who can do aluminum welding. I took mine off, took it to Steve the welder. He was completely familiar with the problem "It's a SH*TY F*ING design, Mazda really F*ED that one up." (He talks really, really loud-welder.) He had fixed several before. He charged me $70 and welded the hell out of the fitting outlets, grinded em flush. Got new crush washers and SS hose, no leaky now.
So, maybe consider this as an option if only your fittings are leaking, and see if you can return the oil cooler to Mazdatrix. Good luck.

See if you can return the cooler. My friend is the parts manager here at Mazda and can get me a new cooler for under 400.00.
Let me know if you want me to get this for you.
