New here - some questions

Hey all, i'm leaning more towards buying a series 1 or 2 rx-7 rather than a certain nissan.

First of all, I know stock 12a's come at around 75kw, roughly how easily, compared to other brands, are these engines able to be modified? Will extractors/headers, exhaust, pod filter and other basic modifications compliment the engine well? What sort of kw gain could I expect from some of these mods.

Are parts cheap? and are they scarce?

Also, engine conversations... i've already read they are easy to do, so im guessing labour wouldnt be too much. How much do engines go for ? Also whats the deal with turbos, how easy are they to bolt on (is a lot of work required)... same q with getting a turboed engine.

Anyway, Ive always taken a liking to rx7s but for some stupid reason i took on the approach to buying a nissan sports car.

Sorry for the stupid questions, really don't know much about these engines and google hasn't helped me much.

Thanks everyone.

i have seen turbos done for under 500 bucks. Modifiations are usually more reactive with these engines than piston engines becuase of the high RPMs. Parts are the same for these as other cars. Lots of custom stuff made for em.

Welcome welcome! You should be able to find yourself a good 1st generation (I'd go at least series 2) up there. I've seen a heap on www.carsales.com.au and bought mine from there too (bought mine in Sydney and drove back to Melbourne).

There are plenty of places around to do work on the cars, parts are pretty easy to get as well. Very easy to work on

Good luck!
