New GSL-SE Really unhappy!

Today was suppose to be a happy day, I went to get my new car, a 1985 GSL-SE with 37k original miles, Red with Grey interior.

My friend and I drive over and hour to go look at it. we get there
WOW! this 7 is DAMN BEAUTIFUL! paint was imacculate rims where like brand new!
WOW! it was sweet. so I crawl underneath and start checking
WOW! it was sweet. all strait, nice and clean, it was undercoated years ago, zero rust, WOW it looked nice
looked at the engine underside, WOW! MINT! oil pan looked brand new, as did the tranny! I had a HUGE smile
I was going to be driving home a MINT GSL-SE with 37k miles!!!!
got the keys, opened it up, WOW! this thing is NEW! I mean Brand new! it was nice, perfect, no fade, clean, and looked great. so I'm so happy at this point. open the hood, and expect to see clean.

DEAD WRONG, uh oh, what the? they undercoated the enginebay.
what is the world?!?!!?!? well after looking it over.
I notice the engine bay has been repainted, as well as the WHOLE car. uh oh, no this can't be!
and what is this? the tranny has been replaced!
had the tell tale junk yard markings on it, and what is this? the motor to! start it up, starts ok, no smoke, but the 6 ports don't work. From what I gather, I think it had an engine fire and they just put in a junkyard engine and tranny combo, hence new oil pan, and spiffy tranny plug and underside.
I was really depressed. they wanted $6995 for it, and there is no way it was worth it. nor was I going to pay that if it had been nice. but it turned out to be a sad day. another mint GSL-SE tore up by someone

oh well, on to the next one..........

maybe in a few weeks if it is still there I'll offer $3k for it
The body was really nice, and would make a great Turbo project.

oh and another thing, I ran the VIN thru CarFax, no record of it. wierd.

$3k for THAT car? hell no way, not with a previous engine fire and junkyard engine & tranny. maybe $1k and that's for the body & interior. no way $3k, hell u can have mine for $3k if u can get it running. maybe i'll cut u a deal, $2k.

dude, that sucks. 3k sounds like too much to me... esp. if they can't prove the condition of the engine/ tranny. For all you know it's gonna let go real soon. ~1k-~2k for a REAL nice body if it was me...

It just boggles the mind that someone can attempt to knowingly sell something that is such an obvious fraud. The sad part is someone will end up buying it and paying too much.

You should be pretty pleased with yourself for being able to spot such a POS!

Over all its still a VERY nice car, I can't know for sure if there was an engine fire, But I'm 99% sure its not the original tranny.
the engine looks out of place, but it may of been uncared for.
or possibly it sat for so long and just rotted the seals, hence the need for a new engine.
without talking to the original owner there is now way to know what happened. We'll see how long it sits on the lot. so you think $2k for it with the mystery engine would be good?
The rest of the car is like new though, and a T2 motor would look pretty in there
I wish I could track down the original owner, hehe, he traded it in on a new Caddy.
and if the motor has been replace, I bet the dealer has no clue about it, hehe.
Man, it sure was nice! (cept for under the hood)
Maybe I'll go take pix sometime.

~2k sounds good. The body seems like it's in great shape, the motor runs (for now at least)... I definatly wouldn't give them 7grand for it. No way. Book is ~3k on a GSL-SE, so, 7k? no way.

See if you can take it off his hands for 2, then throw a TII in it, and haul ***
