new 7

so i just picked up this 85 rx7 sunday. it hasnt ran or moved since 1997 i paid $500. i got it home and changed the radiator, hoses, plugs, cap rotor, and wires (after making sure it wasnt carbon locked) then tried to start it. starter was bad, so i replaced that too, thank god for parts cars lol. then i noticed some bad vac hoses. so today i removed the rats nest and stripped all carb emissions. there are some chewed up wires, mostly just the solenoid wires on top the engine, but the ones that the car needs to start are all fine. i unplugged the fuel pump and used another one to pump fresh gas from a can to see if it would run, i just had a friend hold it on the battery when i turned the key, no start. i need to replace the coolant temp sensor i think the choke works off of that right? but what else should i do to an engine that hasnt ran in 14 years? i have a feeling when i get the choke to work it will start. but im just looking for some other things to look for

So what are the noises it makes when you try to start it? Does the motor turn over?

If the omp is gummed up it may not be getting compression due to lack of oil in the housings.

well, it starts and runs!!! so good to hear a 14 year old rotary fire up! i drained the 2 gallons of 14 year old gas out and rinsed the tank with some fresh stuff until it came out clear. then i changed the fuel filter and tested the pump, it works fine. i pulled the carb back off and found that the floats were gummed up and not working (i know rebuild...) so i took the float lenses off and filled it with carb cleaner. The free'd up and i also took the jet bolts out and spayed cleaner in them. i did that a few times until the cleaner came out clear. put the carb back on and took the banjo bolts out to clean the screens. i also replaced the rubber lines to the carb. after it fired once on starting fluid i changed the oil (didnt want to put fresh oil in a bad engine). then i kept hitting the key to pump gas to the carb. no go... ugh... so anyone have any idea as to why gas wouldnt be getting to the carb? i didnt flow test the pump, i just checked to see if it worked. as soon as i can get gas to the carb and get it to run on its own (no starting fluid) ill flush the rad and change the thermostat and engine wise im O.K. !! then i can move to brakes and bearings... i already know i have a bad rear line. the good thing though, after 14 years, the brake and clutch were still holding pressure
