Couple things,
Headers are the best thing to start with. If emissions arent a problem, then go with a full exhaust system. Its important to start with this mod because its the basics... there's no point in doing anything with your intake etc if you've got a stock exhaust.
I'm assuming you just got your RX7? If you did and you just cant wait for more power... do you car a favor... dont do anything to it yet! Dont advance the timing, dont "adjust" a carb that's working fine. Once you've got the header and you've talked to a couple "experts", then you can start tweaking this and adjusting that. Heed my warnings! lol If you start turning carb screws or uplugging wires that seem to do nothing, you might create a problem that you'll never be able to fix!

i agree wholeheartedly with the header. also get a k&n airfilter to let more air in. try a "ghetto style " cold air induction. pittdp, you did that pretty cheap, didn't you? upgrade to electronic ignition from 81-85 for easier tuning and reliability. all that should be good for a conservative 25 - 30 hp i'd guess.
