need help with smog check.
Well it is about that time. My little sevn is going up for here first smog check since I got her. are there any tips or trick on what I can / should do to help it pass? Im thinking about convertingit to a dual direct fire system so it will burn more of the fuel in the chamber. I know to get the engine nice and hot first, and I've heard abou raising the Idle a bit. What else?
Also where is the Idle screw?
And the last thing, any one now any good spost inSouthern Cal to get this done? Im about 30-45 miles nrth of San Diego and Camp Pendleton.
Thanx
Mike

The idle adjust is on the drivers side of the carb. Towards the back of the carb, it actually does nothing but hold the throttle open a little...Its kinda hard to see/get to
The mixture screw is on the drivers side also right in the middle of the carb...

I hate to break your heart,,but headers won't pass the visual in cal.
any other kind of air cleaner, other then stock won't pass.i'm in
san diego,in my past cars i've done all the mods to make more
power,i've learned that here in cal. even when the car is 20+ years
old that doesn't make it exempt..you know,,the new laws,,unless
when it's time to register,or reregister.you change back all of the
stock parts..with my rx7 when i bought it,i decided that i wasn't gonna
do the parts swap with it at smog time,,pain in the ***..the tech's
who do the smog tests are REAL hard to find ,if you can find one
who will put his job on the line to get around the state standards.
just so some one can run headers or whatever,,when mariah sells
a car,it's all smog legal and stock too,,i may be wrong,,i may be right.
what works for you,may not work for me,(luck)..before you take it in.
take it on the freeway and open it up,,wind all gears out,and blow
some of the carbon out,,if the tech tells you what to do,,,do it,,so you pass but leave it alone first untill he tells you what to do,,performance
cars and cal. don't mix.but i hope for your sake and your 7's that it's
easy ,,,,good luck,,
