pretty cheap if you do it yourself.

Get some pics so we'll know how bad off you are.

My truck caught fire once... just bought some wire and spect a while tracking down all of the burnt ones and replaced them.... never gave me another problem. The issue was the + side of my battiery grounded out on a hard turn... and had the + next to the inner finder... I learned my leason for sure on that. Nothing like seeing your car smoking like that.

If you need parts, I have just stripped a GSLSE so I have wiring and other stuff you might be interested for a nominal fee.

Unfortunately, engine fires are common on the SEs due to a leaking pulsation dampner. Happens on the FCs too, same part. A new dampner is expensive new, many replace them with a banjo bolt to avoid future problems. I have the part # somewhere if you go that route. Welcome to the forum and the Darkside. In my sig line is a link to the online FSMs, and other rotary related material.

As far as replacing the parts, yes it's doable, depending on your skill level and patience, it is time consuming. While you have it apart, this would be a good time to send your injectors out for cleaning and balancing, along with removing the LIM and disassembling the aux ports and sleeves, cleaning the carbon from them for smoother operation.

If you need replacement parts, PM Midwest7s, I think he has some parts availible atm. If not, post a wtb in the 1st gen parts for sale section. If you need help with the removal and reassembly, just ask, we can guide you through most of it. If you have a digicam, take lots pics during removal, makes install simpler.

ok i will try to put pics of the damage up but when comes to doing it myself i would love to but how hard would it be since i really dont have any prior experience with cars...im 17 so i have a lot of free time to do something like this but like i said i wouldnt know where to start.. But my brother and I are really smart so is this one of those you gotta start somewhere projects or should i have someone who knows what their doin handle this?
im pretty sure im thinking of the right part when i say that the wiring under the intake manifold got burnt up .. and like i said before the wiring harness got burnt up also.
